PETIT WEEK IN WINE | October 4th - October 8th 2023
Oregon Winemaker, Robert Brittan, is making the truest expression of the McMinville AVA in the Heart of the Willamette Valley
We had such a great response last month to our Pinot Noir flight that we decided to continue the fun into October with an ALL Oregon Pinot Noir from Brittan Vineyards.
If the name sounds familiar, it's because we have been big supporters of Robert Brittan over the years- we even hosted him in the Spring for our Oregon Wine Symposium. These are minimal intervention wines reflect his 50 years of experience growing & making wines in Oregon and California. They are vibrant, dense, and complex - built for serious wine drinker without ever feeling unapproachable.
Our $34 Brittan Vineyards Tasting Flight starts with their estate Pinot Noir, and then proceeds onto 3 different single block Pinot Noirs all from the McMinville AVA of Oregon's Willamette Valley. Here is your chance to hone in those tasting skills you have been practicing with FOUR unique Pinots each one bringing different elements to the table.
So please read on for a brief on Robert Brittan, more information on the flight wines, and our tasting room hours.

As we turn the calendar page to October, we are a couple weeks away from the much-anticipated opening of our new Flagship store, at 4001 Park Rd. In the meantime, please keep in mind that our dedicated team is here, ready to assist with all your wine wishes! Don't hesitate to reach out to us at 704.332.9913 (South End) or contact our office at 704.332.9910.
With much gratitude,
cheers,
Mark

With almost 50 years of experience growing grapes and making wine in California & Oregon, Robert brings a significant amount of viticultural and winemaking knowledge. He was the first winemaker of Far Niente in the 1980s and then spent 16 years as winemaker and estate manager at Stags' Leap Winery before fulfilling his dream of making Pinot Noir & Syrah from cooler climates and moving to Oregon in 2004.

$71 btl/retail
|
VARIETAL: 100% Pinot Noir (Pommard, 667, 777) from Brittan Estate Vineyard's Basalt block. Aged for 15-months in French oak (23% new).
TASTING NOTES: The 2019 vintage of Basalt Block Pinot Noir offers aromas of cranberry, raspberry and a slate of baking spices like cinnamon and allspice, continuing with uplifted red fruits including juicy pomegranate on the palate. The balanced oak profile is persistent from the mid-palate through to the finish. Drink now through 2032.

Brittan Vineyards
Cygnus Block Pinot Noir 2019
McMinnville, Willamette Valley, OR
$71 btl/retail
|
VARIETAL: 100% Pinot Noir (Swan) from Brittan Estate Vineyard's Cygnus block. Aged for 15-months in French oak (28% new).
TASTING NOTES: The 2019 Cygnus Block shows typicity of vintage with a concentration of fruit, serious structure, and a youthful exuberance. Aromas of raspberry, red plum, orange blossom and fennel frond lead to a dense mid-palate of red brambles, orange zest and barrel spice, and a silky, savory finish. This wine has tremendous potential and we’re excited to watch (and taste!) as it develops. Drink now through 2034.

Brittan Vineyards
Gestalt Block Pinot Noir 2019
McMinnville, Willamette Valley, OR
$71 btl/retail
|
VARIETAL: 100% Pinot Noir (115) from Brittan Estate Vineyard's Gestalt block. Aged for 15-months in French oak (30% new).
TASTING NOTES: The 2019 Gestalt Block Pinot Noir has a concentrated core of dried blueberry, preserved cherry and cassis, providing a richness on the front palate that is unusual for this block. Hints of crushed herbs and savory spices provide a foil for the wine’s rich, dark fruit. As always with our Gestalt Pinot, substantial tannins are present here, but are well moderated and developed.
