Pickering FC
Weekly Update
February 19, 2021
Tell your friends, neighbours and co-workers about the great things happening at Pickering FC!
Thanks to those families who have taken the time to chat with our staff over the past week. We’re hearing a lot of positive feedback on the way we’ve communicated and supported each other through this past 11 months. We will continue with the calls until everyone has been contacted because we appreciate you as valued Members.
Two weeks ago, we shared the ‘National Girls and Women in Sport Day’ campaign with you on social media. The image shown above reflects the diverse way that women play a role in the success of Pickering FC and we’re really pleased to shout about the diversity of our Club. Of course, our players are at the core of everything we do and getting them on the field has to be supported by a great team of coaches and administrators. As we set our sights on next months AGM keep in mind that there are Board positions that might benefit from a female view point!

We’d like to say thank you to the women who play such an integral part in our Club, from Roz and Lisa on the PFC Board, to Nina, Tammy, Vicky and Isabel in administration, Lisa and Victoria in facility operations and not forgetting Hollie and the team of female coaches and team managers who lead our players each week.

In fact, Hollie was part of a live webinar this week discussing the roles, barriers and opportunities for females in our sport. The NSCAC discussion welcomed Hollie and AC Lang, both well know names from League1 Ontario, to discuss their experiences in the game and how they had forged their careers first as players and now as influential leaders in the sport.

We’re #PFCProud to be a safe and inclusive space and will continue to do what we can to make it even better!
Grassroots, Competitive and High-Performance programs are now returning to on-field training once a week and twice a week where feasible. Under the current Red Zone restrictions, we are limited to 10 players per session plus coaching staff for the entire dome. We will continue training on our virtual platform as well. Any missed field sessions will be made up during the break between Indoor and Outdoor (usually April to mid May).

We calculated a pro-rated amount per week that was shared during our September 2020 webinars for every level of play and that will be assessed in late April. At that point we will know exactly how much of our program has not been delivered and this will be refunded to the payee’s credit card.

Training Days and Times will be confirmed by your Head Coach for the weeks ahead.
Recreational program games are still suspended under the Red Zone restrictions. As we look forward to the Summer 2021 season, they will be delivered on community fields right across the City of Pickering for players from ages 3-18 and also includes our popular Women’s Rec League. We support volunteer coaches working with our players at all ages through coaching resources, mentoring and equipment. Pickering FC is the only Club in Durham Region to also offer a training session as well as a game. Each game is officiated by our homegrown talented referees.

Game and Training Days will run Monday to Thursday.
