COACHES CORNER: NEED TO KNOW

Welcome to the 2027 short course season. Our coaching staff is excited to get to work and assist your athlete(s) in every way that we can.

Here are some things that you need to know if you want your athlete to develop and get better:

1. Attend practice consistently. The start of the season focuses on learning,

technique, and skill development for every group. We will follow a process
that improves stroke efficiency and overall skills because athletes cannot be

fast without first becoming efficient.

2. Learn to listen-it is very difficult to learn if you can’t listen. This can be
 challenging in groups

3. Learn to be engaged in the moment. We want to develop body awareness.
The more aware an athlete is about what they’re doing and how they’re
doing it, the faster the kids get

4. Learn how to be uncomfortable, mentally and physically, on a daily basis.

Build a strong work ethic in the water and it will roll over to life PFL Aquatics

is looking for the following attendance. This is not mandatory except for

Thunder 1.

  • Rain Make 2 out of 3 practices
  • Lighting 2 Make 3 out of 4 shooting for 4 out of 4
  • Lighting 1 Make 3-4 out 5 shooting for 5 out of 5
  • Thunder 3 Make 4 out of 5 shooting for 5 out of 5
  • Thunder 2 Make 4 out of 5 shooting for 5 out of 5
  • Thunder 1 18 out of 20 practices a month

Athletes who attend only occasionally will struggle to build strong habits. Consistency and listening are essential for improvement. Without them, athletes often focus on keeping up with more consistent teammates instead of developing stroke technique and skills. What do you want your athlete(s) to accomplish over the 2027 short course season?

We practice Monday-Friday. Use the weekend to rest.

Thanks for being a part of PFL Aquatics. We look forward to the 2027 short course season.
