SUMMER SWIM LEAGUE

Do You Really Need to Discontinue Power for Life?

Hello Parents and Athletes,

Do you really have to discontinue Power for Summer League? Here are a few reasons why staying with Power for Life Aquatics over the summer is beneficial for your athlete and for the PFL team.

1.  Listening Skills - It takes a very “long time” for swimmers to learn to listen in a practice environment. This is the first step to getting better. If you don’t learn listening skills, you will not be able to follow the coaches direction. There are some really good summer league coaches, however, they will not hold your athlete accountable for listening and learning as in a swim academy setting like PFL.

2.   Focus - this is the next step to getting better. This also takes a “long time” to form this habit. In order to really reach their potential, they must be able to be in the moment and make sure the details are being done correctly.

3.   Work Ethic - the last step in the process of getting better. We expect a certain level of effort at practice daily. The swimmers learn that hard work is sometimes an uncomfortable experience, but the outcome is worth it.

4.   Team – the first three benefit the entire team. When the team develops these skills together it fortifies the efforts of each other – better technique, faster time, comradery, community and much more. This is the goal at PFL, to create and maintain excellence in the athletes and the team.

PFL supports its swimmers competing in summer league. We want them to have fun and do well. Hopefully they will bring a friend or two back to PFL when they return. We want them to shine and be an example of a well-trained athlete who happens to be a part of PFL! We are committed to building an amazing future for the PFL team.

Lastly, please keep these things in mind - long breaks, more than a couple weeks, will hinder the process of overall development. Bad habits will most likely return if the kids are not being held accountable to the standard of training at PFL. It takes weeks, even months to build the right habits, and only takes a short period to forget.  Consistency is the key to reaching their potential.

We would love to see your athlete poolside over the summer. Thank you for being a part of PFL.

Take care,

PFL Coaching Staff
