What a Year! A Look Back at 2025 with the Prince George Chamber of Commerce

From appointing our first-ever Youth Ambassador to earning the Inclusive Growth Award at the Canadian Chamber AGM, it’s been a whirlwind of wins, events, and community connections. We’ve packed 2025 with milestones big and small—and now we’re thrilled to share the highlights with all of you!

February 14 - 15th, 2025

B2B Expo


The inaugural B2B Expo took place February 14-15, 2025 at the Prince George Civic Centre, hosted by Community Futures Fraser Fort George, the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Prince George.


The two-day event featured business speed networking, exhibitor showcases, learning sessions, and a public marketplace. The event received positive feedback from participants, with many asking when the next expo will be held. Organizers hope it will become an annual event.

March 1 - 31st, 2025

March Membership Drive


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce launched its 2025 March Membership Drive with incentives for both new members and existing members. New members who joined during the campaign were entered into an exclusive prize draw.

The chamber also rewarded the member who brought in the most referrals with a special prize. All participating members were entered into a grand prize raffle available only to chamber members. The drive aimed to grow the chamber's membership base while engaging its current members through the referral incentive program.

March 18th, 2025

Inclusive by Design


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce partnered with Hire For Talent to host the Inclusive by Design webinar on March 18, 2025. This members-only event helped employers build confidence in hiring and supporting employees with disabilities. Chamber members who attended and completed a post-event survey received a $250 honorarium. The webinar provided practical guidance on creating inclusive workplaces and hiring practices.

March 28th, 2025

JCI


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted the launch of JCI Prince George on March 28, 2025. The event brought together young professionals for networking and leadership development opportunities. Attendees participated in an Effective Speaking mini-training session, with complimentary appetizers provided. The launch marked the establishment of a new Junior Chamber International chapter in Prince George, focused on empowering young business leaders in the community.

April 23rd, 2025

In a historic first for the Chamber's 114-year history, the Executive and Directors were sworn in by Chief Dolleen Logan of Lheidli T'enneh First Nation. Members approved bylaw amendments updating the Oath of Office and financial reporting requirements.

AGM


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce held its 2025 AGM, electing Kristine Newell as President alongside Vice Presidents Nik Tusek, Donna Flood, and Tanner Moulton. New directors include Pardeep Singh Hans, Alison Fuhr, Sydney Redpath, Anjula Benjamin, and Clayton Pountney.

In her first official act as President, Kristine Newell signed a lease agreement with Community Futures Fraser-Fort George to relocate the Chamber office.

May 6th, 2025

TrueNorth 2025


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted TrueNorth 2025 on May 6, 2025, at the House of Ancestors. This one-day forum brought together young professionals from north-central BC with industry leaders and employers to build a more resilient and prosperous Northern BC.

TrueNorth focused on connecting Indigenous and non-Indigenous early-career professionals with seasoned leaders across resource development, healthcare, education, financial services, and other vital sectors. The forum emphasized helping young people born and raised in north-central BC to live, learn, and work in the region while maintaining family and community connections.

Looking ahead, TrueNorth is moving to January for 2026.

The event featured presentations from BC Hydro, Chambers Plan, Vitreo Minerals, and Lheidli T'enneh Economic Development. UNBC delivered the keynote address during the lunch session. Deklan Corstanje served as emcee.

Export Navigator Business Showcase Collaboration


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted an Export Navigator business social at Trench Brewing on May 14, 2025. The event brought together local businesses to learn how the Export Navigator program can help them grow beyond local markets and increase sales interprovincially or internationally. Participants networked while discovering tools to expand their reach and diversify their markets.

BDC Member Breakfast


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted a member breakfast on May 15, 2025, featuring BDC's Economic Outlook 2025. The breakfast provided entrepreneurs with key trends and insights on the economic landscape. Members gathered to hear expert analysis on what business owners could expect in the year ahead and how to navigate economic challenges and opportunities.

June 17th, 2025

MLA Breakfast


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted an MLA Leadership Breakfast on June 17, 2025, sponsored by TC Energy. The event brought together local MLAs and business leaders for dialogue on key issues affecting the Prince George business community. Attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with their elected representatives, discuss regional economic priorities, and advocate for policies supporting local businesses.

Andres Business Showcase Collaboration


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted a Business Showcase at Andre's Electronic Experts on June 19, 2025, from 5-7 PM at their shop on Vance Road. The event featured BBQ, drinks, and networking opportunities. Attendees enjoyed a casual atmosphere while learning about Andre's impact in the community. A door prize draw included a fully automatic Bosch coffee machine valued at $800, generously provided by Bosch Home Appliances.

July 6th, 2025

Summer Scavenger Hunt


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted a summer scavenger hunt leading community members to different member stores. Participants could win prizes at each location or enter the end-of-summer grand prize draw for a gift worth over $400.



Participating locations included Studio 2880, Grama's Inn, Crossroads, Prince George Florist, Jim's Clothes Closet, Koops Bike Shop, Gingerbread Toys, Les Beaux Visages, and HomeSpun Refillery. The hunt successfully engaged the community while showcasing local chamber member businesses.

July 17th, 2025

CUSMA Compliance Seminar


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted a CUSMA Compliance workshop focusing on cross-border trade requirements. Attendees learned about rules of origin, tariff classifications, and certification procedures essential for Northern BC exporters. The session provided practical strategies to help local businesses navigate evolving trade regulations and maintain compliance across North American markets.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Squeeze


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce teamed up with the Prince George Community Foundation for this year's Big Brothers Big Sisters Big Squeeze, serving raspberry peach lemonade to the community. Thanks to generous supporters, our lemonade stand raised $1,000.15. With the Community Foundation's matching pledge, that totals $2,000.15 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC—supporting mentorship programs that make a real difference in young lives. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and contributed to this great cause!

The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted a Leadership Breakfast sponsored by TC Energy featuring MP Bob Zimmer. Members and community leaders engaged in discussion on federal issues impacting our region, including economic growth, infrastructure, and small business support. Youth Ambassador Appointment


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce introduced a new Youth Ambassador role in August, with Mila Millions appointed as the program's inaugural ambassador. Mila has been actively supporting Chamber events, connecting with local businesses, and sharing youth perspectives on life in Prince George. Her segment, Mila's Thoughts, will be featured in upcoming newsletters, highlighting family and youth-focused initiatives in our community.

BEA Finalist Announcement


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce unveiled the finalists for the 40th annual Business Excellence Awards on September 11th at Knox Performance Centre. Nearly 200 nominations were reviewed by 13 judges across multiple categories, recognizing the best of Prince George's entrepreneurial spirit. The Prince George Citizen was named the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Canfor, in recognition of its 110-year membership with the Chamber.

YXS Leadership Breakfast


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted a Leadership Breakfast sponsored by TC Energy featuring Geoff Ritchie, newly appointed CEO and President of the Prince George Airport Authority. Ritchie shared his vision for YXS, including priorities for regional growth, connectivity, and the airport's role in supporting local business development. With four decades of aviation expertise, Ritchie brings proven leadership to this key economic driver for Northern BC.

PG Chamber Wins Inclusivity Award


Executive Director Neil Godbout was honoured with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce's 2025 Inclusive Growth Award at the national AGM & Convention in Mississauga. The award recognizes leaders breaking down barriers and advancing economic inclusion for underrepresented groups in Canada's business community. Godbout was recognized for the Prince George Chamber's innovative approaches, including the formal partnership with Lheidli T'enneh First Nation and historic bylaw amendments allowing the elected Chief to swear in the Chamber's board of directors.

ICBC Member Breakfast


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce hosted a Member Breakfast sponsored by the Northern Car Dealers Association featuring Jason McDaniel, Interim President and CEO of ICBC. McDaniel discussed ICBC's transformation under Enhanced Care, the shift from a legal-based to recovery-based care model, and improvements to service delivery in Prince George. Attendees learned about ICBC's commitment to supporting customer recovery and keeping insurance rates affordable.

Safe Streets Rally


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Prince George co-hosted the Voices for Change Safe Streets Rally at the CN Centre, drawing over 1,000 residents. The rally called for urgent government action to address crime, violence, and public disorder affecting downtown businesses and the community. Panel speakers included Executive Director Neil Godbout, business owner Eoin Foley, Dr. Barbara Kane, and Chamber Director Cindi Pohl.

40th Annual Business Excellence Awards


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce celebrated its 40th Annual Business Excellence Awards at the Conference and Civic Centre with over 400 attendees. Kyndra Farrell, owner-operator of Worth A Shot Mobile Bar and Champagne Events, was named Business Person of the Year. MDN Trinity Financial Services received the Business of the Year Award, while the House of Ancestors won the BIPOC Business of the Year Award. The Prince George Citizen received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of its 110-year membership with the Chamber. The Hon. Jody Wilson-Raybould delivered the keynote address.

New Office Grand Opening / Open House


The Prince George Chamber of Commerce held our Winter Open House on December 12th from 2:00-4:00 PM at our office. The free event welcomed both members and non-members to meet the Chamber team, reflect on 2025's achievements, and learn about upcoming plans for 2026. Attendees had the opportunity to network and gain insight into the Chamber's role in the Prince George business community.
