PGA of BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
SHIP STICKS
The PGA of BC is proud to announce a new preferred partner, Ship Sticks. Ship Sticks is a Bronze-level partner of the Association and will support the PGA of BC Golf Facility of the Year Award as a presenting sponsor.

Ship Sticks is a premier golf club shipping provider. As a company founded by golfers, they know first-hand how much of a hassle it can be traveling with your sticks. In 2011, they set out to solve that problem once and for all by creating a service that allows golfers to conveniently and affordably ship their clubs and luggage to any destination.

Since their inception, they’ve helped customers ship their gear over 277 million miles – forming partnerships along the way with thousands of golf facilities, including over 80 percent of Golfweek's Top 400 Golf Courses, Country Clubs, and Resorts.

They currently operate at more than 3,000 facilities worldwide and are committed to helping golfers everywhere enjoy a hassle-free travel experience by getting their clubs to and from their destination safely, quickly, and cost-efficiently.

Brett Noll, Director of Resorts at Ship Sticks, said the company looks forward to a fruitful partnership with the PGA of BC.

“We are excited to announce our latest partnership with the PGA of British Columbia and, in doing so, continue to expand our global footprint. We are committed to providing white-glove service and dedicated to making it easier and more affordable to play golf in any corner of the world,” said Noll.

KIWIS GOLF CART SALES & RENTALS TO PRESENT PGA OF BC
DUNC SUTHERLAND DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
We are thrilled to unveil our new preferred partner, Kiwis Golf Cart Sales & Rentals. Kiwis Golf Cart Sales & Rentals joins the Association as a Bronze-level preferred partner and will support the PGA of BC Dunc Sutherland Distinguished Service Award as a presenting sponsor.

Per Vern Johnston, Marketing & Development at Kiwis:
"Kiwis Powersports & Marine took over Grant's Tackle in 2018 in Enderby. Grant’s Tackle had been in business for over 40 years with a strong regional customer base. Grant’s was basically a Fish and Tackle retailer selling marine products as well.
Our new owner, Steve Clayton, saw the potential in this small company and purchased it with a plan to expand and develop Grant’s into a truly multi product and service company with greater reach and impact.

Since then, Steve changed the name to… KIWIS with our beloved “cool” kiwis bird logo. Why Kiwis you ask? Well Steve was born and raised in… you guessed it New Zealand.

We expanded our product lines to include Suzuki, Tohatsu, Husqvarna, Argo, MirroCraft, Armada pontoons as well as all the major fishing and tackle brands. And now: Yamaha Golf Cart Rentals and Sales.

Kiwis Golf Cart Rentals division is focused on golf courses. Adding 2023 Yamaha gas powered golf carts to service the industry. It is our goal and intention to provide carefree rental services offering top quality machines with EFI inducted engines for unparalleled dependability.

We will look after the cart end of your business so you can take that stressor off your plate. We can add custom logos and golf course specific graphics, in addition we supply mounted spare tires on wheels, so all you need to do is typical routine maintenance.

Being a part of the PGA of BC is definitely the right step in aligning with a premium level recreational industry with an expanding demographic that focuses on fair play and striving for excellence. We are very excited to be a part of this industry for sure.

Just go to our site at kiwispowersportsandmarine.ca or call Kevin Johnston at 250-540-9228."

RECAP: KOOTENAYS EDUCATION SERIES
The Kootenays Education Series, hosted at the picturesque Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, was Monday’s platform for two incredible presentations from accomplished PGA of BC professionals. More than 20 professionals gathered to hear from Cindy Soukoroff, Professional at St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino, and Simon Jones, Head Professional at Purcell Golf.

Through Soukoroff’s presentation, attendees were able to learn about staffing strategies in the golf industry, especially for Kootenays clubs. Soukoroff focused on the challenges facing the unique Kootenays region. She also explained how both long-time and newer professionals can better align with the Association’s Career Advisory Program.

Soukoroff stressed the importance of inter-club collaboration. "Although situations are sometimes different, clubs coming together to share solutions helps us realize that many challenges are industry-wide. Working together to find new solutions to those challenges helps everyone."

To follow, Jones brought his expertise in teaching the next generation of golfers and explained how to implement and run a successful junior golf program.

“Junior golf schools should develop athletes first, create competitive golfers second and produce a love for the game of golf along the way,” said Jones.

Following the presentations, attendees teed off at the Riverside Golf Course located at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort. This marked the season’s first Kootenay Pro Tour event.

The PGA of BC thanks Foresight Sports Canada for their generous support of the Association’s Education Series. For more information, please contact Interim Executive Director Jared Siminoff at [email protected].
