PGA of BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
SUPERSPEED GOLF
Almost every golfer would love to hit the ball farther and be more consistent off the tee. By applying the time-tested and scientifically validated principles of Overspeed Training to golf instruction programs, the team at SuperSpeed Golf has developed a program that will help all golfers increase distance and consistency.

The SuperSpeed training system includes a set of three specifically weighted training clubs: one 20-per-cent lighter than the player’s driver, one 10-per-cent lighter, and one five-per-cent heavier. Along with the product, SuperSpeed offers nearly two years of included online instruction with the system. On average, players see a five-per-cent gain in swing speed after the first session of training. Three 10-minute training sessions per week for six weeks will make this five-per-cent gain permanent.

PGA of BC members are eligible for special-offer pricing and wholesale-purchasing accounts on SuperSpeed products and coaching bundles.   Visit our Member Benefits & Corporate Discounts page   for more information (login required).

BRYN PARRY WINS TAYLORMADE & ADIDAS GOLF PGA OF BC CHAMPIONSHIP
Bryn Parry put on a memorable performance this week at Whistler Golf Club in capturing the TaylorMade & adidas Golf PGA of BC Championship presented by Axis Insurance Group for the fourth time.

Parry, who held a two-stroke lead over the field after a 2-under-par 69 in Monday’s first round, carded a tournament-low 66 on Tuesday to finish at 7-under and win the event by six shots -- an especially impressive total considering how difficult the Arnold Palmer-designed course played in windy conditions both days.

By winning a fourth tournament title, Parry tied  Scott Minni  for the most PGA of BC Championship victories in the Association’s modern era. Parry’s other titles came in 2000, 2008 and 2015.

With the win, the Seymour Creek Golf Centre Teaching Professional took home $6,300 and a custom championship ring courtesy of title sponsors TaylorMade and adidas Golf.

Defending champion Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course) and 2011 winner Lindsay Bernakevitch (Victoria Golf Club) shared runner-up honours at 1-under, earning $3,725 apiece. Doug Morgan (Richmond Country Club) placed fourth at even-par, while Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club), 2003 champion Philip Jonas (Philip Jonas Golf Academy) and 2017 winner John Shin (The Tour LAB @ Northview) tied for fifth at 1-over.

The PGA of BC would like to thank host Executive Professional Alan Kristmanson and the entire team at Whistler Golf Club for their tremendous hospitality this week.

The Association also extends its appreciation to title sponsors TaylorMade and adidas Golf, and to presenting sponsor Axis Insurance Group, for their continued support of our flagship championship.

FACT OF THE WEEK
Bryn Parry's performance this week was a dominant display, with the now four-time PGA of BC Champion carding the low round on both days to win by six shots, but it wasn't even close to his largest margin of victory in the event.

Parry's first two titles in 2000 and 2008 came when the event was still a 54-hole championship, but he won those by margins of 11 and 12 strokes, respectively.

In addition to tying Scott Minni with four PGA of BC Championship wins, Parry added to his record number of total titles in the Association's modern era, now holding 11. He's also captured five Assistants' Championships and two Pro-Assistant wins.

Four members are tied for second-most total wins with seven: Greg Pidlaski (Life Professional), Philip Jonas (Philip Jonas Golf Academy), Doug Morgan (Richmond Country Club) and Dean Claggett (Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy).
