Apprentice Professional, GolfTEC Kelowna
PGA of Canada member since: 2010
At which golf facility did you first begin working within the industry, and who was the PGA Professional?
I first started working at Sandpiper Golf Club for Ted Swaine.
What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?
I've always loved helping players improve, being a full-time coach gives me a great ability to do that. I am very happy being a golf coach, it is wicked having players telling you about their successes and working the puzzle of what went wrong on the tough days together.
What is your favourite golf course in British Columbia, and why?
Sandpiper or Seymour Golf & Country Club. Growing up playing Sandpiper got me hitting a lot of different shots and having the last few holes exposed in the wind helped me a lot. Any time I got to go out to Seymour, the course is always in such amazing shape that it was always such a treat.
What is a common misconception that golfers make about what your job entails?
That I'm going to teach them a specific way to swing the club. We will work together on how to get that player to hit their best shots, how we get there will not always be the same as another.
