PHILIP JONAS MAINTAINS SLIM LEAD ATOP PGA of BC ORDER OF MERIT
Philip Jonas (Philip Jonas Golf Academy, pictured) continues to top the PGA of BC Order of Merit, but his lead is significantly slimmer following results of last week's TaylorMade & adidas Golf PGA of BC Championship presented by Axis Insurance Group.

The top four positions remain unchanged, with Jonas's top-five finish at Whistler Golf Club helping him maintain first place with 111.50 points. But Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) has closed the gap thanks to his Championship victory, now holding 109.33 points for the season. Jonas led Parry by more than 25 points at the most recent Order of Merit update.

Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course) still holds down third spot with 91.33 points, while Luke Bogdan (Ledgeview Golf Club) sits fourth with 69.33 points. Finlay Young (The Harvest Golf Club), who shared low round of the Championship with Parry with a final-round 66, made a big move up to fifth place with 61.83 points.

The Order of Merit is now current, with results from all counting events to date included. Click below to access the updated standings.

APPLY NOW FOR PGA of BC BURSARY, JIM GIBSON SCHOLARSHIP
Members are reminded of the opportunity to apply for financial awards administered annually by the Association: The PGA of BC Community Leadership Bursary and the Jim Gibson Scholarship.

The PGA of BC Community Leadership Bursary is awarded to an individual or member facility within the Association demonstrating an extraordinary desire and passion to make a significant difference in the lives of those around them, and in doing so, sets an example of “giving back” that all PGA of BC members can be proud of. The 2018 bursary was awarded to Revelstoke Golf Club (Professionals Chance Beardsworth and Dean Jackson pictured at left) for its work developing a free junior membership program that has significantly increased youth participation at the club.

The Jim Gibson Scholarship  is given annually to an individual within the PGA of BC community that best exemplifies volunteerism and demonstrates dedication to furthering their education to benefit others in a community. David Stashuk (Capilano Golf & Country Club, pictured at right) was the 2018 recipient. The funds assisted him in attending the renowned Coach Camp in Savannah, Ga., last winter while continuing his studies in business management via Athabasca University.

Both awards are in the amount of $1,000.

The 2019 application periods for the scholarship and bursary close on Friday, Sept. 13 at 4 p.m. PT . Click below to access the PGA of BC Scholarship Program page, where application forms and more information about both awards can be found.
