TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS SET TO RETURN AT MAYFAIR LAKES G&CC
Thirty-two teams will be in the field Monday when the PGA of BC Tournament of Champions presented by Tee-on Golf Systems Inc. & PING Canada returns for the first time in more than two years at Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club.

The Tournament of Champions is a unique team event in which a Club Professional (Head, Executive or Head Teaching Professional) and a club champion or other designated amateur from their facility join forces to compete against other two-player teams from across the province over 18 holes of best-ball play. The tournament was not conducted in 2020 and shifted from its usual place on the calendar in May this year due to public-health concerns, but is shaping up to once again be a tremendous event.

With no defending champions in the field and few past winners signed up to compete, the Tournament of Champions title is wide open for the taking next week. Click below to read our comprehensive event preview, including comments from host Head Professional Brian Coe, Tournament of Champions facts and a few notable teams to watch at Mayfair Lakes.

BRADLEY OVERTAKES LEAD IN PDP ORDER OF MERIT
There's a new leader atop the standings in the PGA of BC Professional Development Program (PDP) Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones.

Dennis Bradley (Copper Point Golf Club) has assumed the No. 1 spot, how holding 71 points on the year. Bradley made a significant jump by adding several points for his volunteer work in the community since last month's update.

Brian McDonald (Fairview Mountain Golf Club) now holds down second place with 61 points for the season. Greg Pool (Northview Golf & Country Club, 57 points) continues to occupy the No. 3 position, while Jeff Liddle (Talking Rock Golf Course, 54 points) has made a move up to fourth. A two-way tie between Scott Kolb (Victoria Golf Club) and Cindy Soukoroff (St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino), with 52 points apiece, rounds out the top five.

Please note that today's update to the Order of Merit includes participation in all regional tour events and PGA of BC championships conducted to date. As well, points have been awarded for Golfathon for ALS participation based upon what post-event information has been reported to the ALS Society of BC.

PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- AUSTIN BOSQUET
Apprentice Professional, Hillview Golf Club

PGA of Canada member since: 2018

Why did you become a PGA of Canada Professional?
My dad, Dan Bosquet, was a PGA of Canada Professional for a number of years. He really helped me with golf growing up and then when I became old enough to see what went into being a PGA of Canada Professional, I knew I wanted to make a career out of it.

Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
My dad and family of course have had the biggest impact in my career, always being behind me and supporting every decision I’ve made. Lee Ranger as well; he helped me get into the industry as I worked for him for eight years at The Okanagan Golf Club, starting in the back shop and working my way up.

Which significant accomplishments are you most proud of?
Being selected as the Interior Region's 2020 Apprentice Professional of the Year.

What is a common misconception that golfers make about what your job entails?
Generally it’s just explaining to them that we are not the guys on TV, but what the everyday life of a Golf Professional is: growing the game, making sure our pro shops are stocked up and our courses are running smoothly to ensure the best experience possible.
