PGA of BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
KAL TIRE
This winter, Kal Tire wants you to be as prepared as possible for whatever the season throws at you.

Now, in a perfect world, that means two sets of tires: one for summer and one for winter. But, let’s be honest, not everyone wants that. Sometimes one set for the whole year is just a lot easier. And if you’re the kind of person who’s into a year-round tire, Kal Tire wants you to have the best ones to keep you safe. That’s why they recommend the Nokian WRG4 All-Weather tire - a consistent top-performing All-Weather tire in independent testing on winter road conditions.

Did you know that there’s a difference between “all-season” tires and “all-weather” tires? Only all-weather tires are designed to work in all weather conditions because they’re winter-certified with the ‘3-peak mountain snowflake’ symbol. That means they’re safer and more reliable in the Fall and Winter months when temperatures drop consistently below 7 degrees Celsius.

If you are looking for one tire that can perform year-round, get the top-rated Nokian WRG4 All-Weather tire from Kal Tire. And for a limited time, save $50 instantly at KalTire.com.

For advice and service you can count on, trust Kal Tire - Canada's Home for All-Weather tires.

BOARD ELECTION UPCOMING, CALL FOR CANDIDATES TO BE MADE NEXT MONTH
The PGA of BC Board of Directors reminds all qualified members that a formal call for candidates to run for board vacancies will be issued early in the New Year.

There will be four (4) openings on the board becoming available via election in early 2022. The individuals filling these positions will be determined by a membership vote taking place in late January.

Regional quotas will be confirmed closer to the formal voting period, but at least one director elected next year must be a Vancouver Island representative.

All positions are two-year terms. Candidates must be Class "A" Professionals to be eligible to hold a board position.

Click below to learn more about the requirements, expectations and duties of board members. Watch for the call for candidates in early January.

PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- STEVEN MacPHERSON
Head Professional, Storey Creek Golf Club

PGA of Canada member since: 2001

At which golf facility did you first begin working within the industry, and who was the PGA Professional?
I sold my first set of clubs at the age of 13! My dad was Head Professional at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, a links course in England, and I used to hang out and annoy his assistants all day, everyday.

Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
Dale Schienbein is the easy answer. Although I'd been in the industry for a decade before I met Dale, he turned my world upside down when I joined his crew at Seymour. He improved my insight into every single aspect of the job.

What is your most cherished golf memory?
I've shot final round 65s to win golf tournaments, but after a bad opening round (79) in The Northern Open at Royal Aberdeen I shot 66 to make the cut by one. This was a course record for a short time. That was pretty cool.

If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?
This piece of advice came from Day 1 with Dale at Seymour: Do everything better than it has ever been done before. That has stayed with me for over 20 years. I think if new members can passionately improve themselves, their students and the business, then they're going places.
