PGA of BC ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE & SPEAKERS FOR 2021 EDUCATION SERIES
Earlier today, the PGA of BC was pleased to announce the schedule and lineup of featured speakers for the Association’s 2021 Education Series presented by Foresight Sports Canada.

Due to continued concerns surrounding public health, the entirety of the 2021 Education Series will be conducted virtually. Though we wish it were possible to safely gather at this time, moving the programming to a fully digital setting will afford members across the province the convenience of participating in Education Series sessions from their workplace or home. The format will also allow members to have greater flexibility in attending the workshops most relevant to their career goals.

Rather than a collection of regional events as in past years, the Education Series will be presented as a run of 10 individual professional-development sessions taking place online from January through March. Many presenters featured throughout the series will be PGA of BC Professionals and other esteemed individuals within the PGA of Canada and Canadian golf community. The Association’s Preferred Partners at Dale Carnegie Training of British Columbia will also lead two sessions of the 2021 series.

The schedule for the Education Series will be as follows (all times PT, schedule subject to change):

“Putting Performance for the Club Pro: A new business plan waiting on your practice green”

Tuesday, March 16 at 10 a.m. – Casey Johnson, PGA of Canada

IN MEMORIAM: MARTY RICHARDS & JOE JEROSKI
The PGA of BC is saddened to share the news that two longtime Association members -- Life Professional Joe Jeroski (pictured at right) and Class "A" Professional Marty Richards -- passed away earlier this year.

Jeroski, whose impressive career included stints working at Marine Drive Golf Club, Langara Golf Course and Fraserview Golf Course, passed away in September at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Sharon and sons Mike and Brent.

Jeroski won the 1969 PGA of BC Assistants' Championship at The Vancouver Golf Club, the 1968 Western Canadian Assistants' Championship, and had many other tournament victories among his impressive playing résumé. He was also a two-time member of BC's Willingdon Cup team, including in 1961 when he was runner-up at the BC Amateur Championship. Having first joined the PGA of BC in 1963, Jeroski continued teaching in Richmond into the 1990s and achieved Life Professional status in 1998.

Richards passed away in July at the age of 75. He first joined the Association in 1990 and spent most of his 30 years as a PGA of BC Professional at Glen Meadows Golf Club. He ascended to the hole of Head Professional at the Victoria facility in 2000 and remained in that position for nearly a decade. Richards was an accomplished competitor as both an amateur and Professional, racking up more than 30 tournament victories on Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland.

The PGA of BC extends its deepest sympathies to both Jeroski and Richards' families, friends and Professional colleagues. Click below to learn more about the careers of both gentlemen, and to find information on a memorial service for Jeroski.
VOLUNTEER PRESENTERS NEEDED FOR BRITISH COLUMBIA GOLFEXPO
Although the 2021 British Columbia GolfEXPO will be conducted virtually, the PGA of BC will once again be involved by providing informative and instructional content for attendees.

Rather than the on-stage presentations that PGA of BC members have provided in-person in past years, the Association will have a series of pre-recorded videos available in the event's Seminar Stage area.

The administration team is accepting pitches from PGA of BC Professionals to provide Seminar Stage content. When developing your idea, please keep in mind that videos should last at least 15 minutes and will need to be self-produced. Topics can be related to any area of your golf-industry expertise, so long as they provide useful or interesting information for Expo attendees. Existing videos that can be re-purposed for this usage will be considered.

Additionally, the administration team is seeking a variety of shorter "quick tips" videos that will be used in the event's promotion. These should be of a duration in the 60- to 120-second range and existing videos will also be considered.

Those whose pitches are approved and included with PGA of BC Seminar Stage content at the event will be credited with two (2) PDP points toward the 2021 Order of Merit. Those with a quick-tips video used for the event will earn one (1) PDP point.

Please submit your pitch or existing content to Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington at [email protected].
