HONMA GOLF PARTNERS WITH PGA OF BC AS SENIORS' & WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIPS SPONSOR

The PGA of BC is excited to announce our newest partner, Honma Golf, who will be serving as Presenting Sponsor of the 2024 Seniors’ & Women’s Championships taking place June 24 & 25 at Nicklaus North Golf Course in Whistler.

Founded in Sakata, Japan, Honma gathered the top technical minds, experienced craftsmen and accomplished artisans to design beautiful golf clubs. Now in North America, Honma is committed to elevating the game of golf with the highest levels of artistry, quality and innovation.

Lorena Padilla, Chief Marketing Officer for Honma Golf North America, said the brand is thrilled to partner with the Association and support the Seniors’ & Women’s Championships.

“For more than half a century, Honma has grown, evolved, and adapted along with the golf industry and to become one of the most revered brands. Joining up with the PGA of BC is a natural extension of our success. We look forward to working alongside the PGA of BC to promote enjoyment, participation, and improvement in the game of golf during the Seniors’ & Women’s Championship,” said Padilla.

Mark Strong, PGA of BC Executive Director, extended his gratitude to Honma for their support of our Championships and Association members.

“The PGA of BC is very happy to be able to re-establish a partnership with a world-renowned company such as Honma Golf. We feel that their strategic objectives are a great fit for our Seniors’ and Women's Championships, and sincerely appreciate their sponsorship. It is only through support like this that we are able to continually enhance our events and initiatives. Thank you Honma.”

RECAP: G&G TOUR WINTER SERIES AT HAUS OF GOLF

The G&G Tour Winter Series at Haus of Golf wrapped up its inaugural event in November, competing virtually at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. The new league offers PGA of BC professionals the opportunity to compete against their peers during the winter months.

The event opened with a hot start for Justin Min (University Golf Club), who finished with back-to-back birdies to hold the early lead at 1-under par. Cory Renfrew (Modern Golf Vancouver) was next to take the belt, moving the pace car up one slot to 2-under par, which included an eagle on the par-5 8th hole. The switch was flipped as scores started pouring in, starting with Jonnie Motomochi (Morgan Creek Golf Course) firing a front-9 32. He added another birdie on the 12th to get to -5, before a closing birdie solidified a bogey-free 6-under par 66 and the clubhouse lead. Matt Palsenbarg (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) was the first to give him a scare the following day, after a tournament-best 31 on the front side. An even-par back-9 secured the runner-up position, where he was joined by the final competitor to post, Tim Wilson (Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club).

A KP contest was held on the 4th hole, with Point Grey's Shanlee Johnston taking the win at 9' 2", and Point Grey's Dave Zibrik's 340-yard poke on 18 was more than enough to take home Long Drive honours.

You can find a full breakdown of the scores on the Trackman app. The G&G Tour Winter Series at Haus of Golf is back at it with Event #2 at Albany in the Bahamas from December 11-17, and you can sign up by clicking here!
