Thanks to the efforts of the PGA of BC Education Committee, the seminar will once again feature a variety of subject matter relevant to all members, delivered by some of the leading minds and experts in our sport.

The seven presentations comprising this year’s seminar will cover topics that include golf instruction, club management, enhancing facilities’ offerings for patrons, statistical analysis, online coaching and more.

The Day 1 schedule will include presentations from golf-media personality Matt Ginella, Dubai-based PGA of Canada Professional Alex Riggs, renowned golf statistician Lou Stagner, and a session conducted jointly by TPI Fitness Advisory Board co-director Lance Gill and Jason Baile, Director of Instruction at Florida’s Jupiter Hills Club.

Acclaimed coaches Terry Rowles and Chris Como will share their expertise with members as part of the Day 2 schedule, which will also feature a talk delivered by Henry DeLozier, a principal with GGA Partners.

In a unique opportunity for members, Como will be answering pre-submitted questions from PGA of BC Professionals, while Rowles will close the event with a two-hour session. CLICK HERE to submit a question for Como's consideration.

The seminar itinerary has also been designed to accommodate those wishing to participate in the PGA of Canada Tee Talks Digital Series session that will be held Feb. 9.

EDUCATION SERIES SET TO RESUME NEXT WEEK
The PGA of BC's 2021 Education Series presented by Foresight Sports Canada is on break for this week but will return on Thursday, Feb. 4 with another member-led presentation.

Building upon his 2020 Education Series talk on alignment and rotation, Clay Stothers (The Okanagan Golf Club) will continue the conversation toward sequencing, applied pressure and matchups in his talk scheduled for 1 p.m. PT.

Click here for more information on next week's session, or view all remaining workshops and registration information via the PGA of BC’s Schedule of Events page.

Member registration for individual sessions is priced at $10 (plus GST) each. The Education Series Pass, a member-exclusive offer granting access to all remaining sessions, is $70 (plus GST). Non-members are welcome to attend any workshop of the series, with a reference from a Class “A” Professional, for $20 (plus GST).

Please be reminded that Dale Carnegie sessions in this year's series won't be available for later viewing. However, the first two sessions of the 2021 series -- featuring Nick Starchuk and our panel on golf and public health -- are now posted to the Education Series Archive.

APPLY FOR PGA of CANADA FOUNDATION BURSARY BY FRIDAY
Each year, the PGA of Canada Foundation awards bursaries to assist, encourage and promote the attainment of professional development opportunities.

Bursary applications are now being accepted to help subsidize the cost of any professional-development undertakings you may have completed within the past year.

These bursaries are in the amount of $500 each, with a maximum of 20 awarded nationwide each year. They are available to all members, contingent upon a Golf Professional completing one or more professional-development opportunities in 2020. Last year, six PGA of BC Professionals were awarded bursaries through this initiative.

Please note that members still working towards their Class "A" designation are welcome to apply but may not use a bursary to offset the cost of PGA of Canada Training Academy courses or programs. There are no restrictions for Class "A" members.

Click below to access the application form and learn more about the initiative. Applications must be received by Jan. 29, with bursaries to be awarded in March.

FACT OF THE WEEK
The PGA of BC administration team provides photo portraits in front of our Association-branded backdrop as a complimentary service to our Golf Professionals. PGA of BC Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington is pictured here to provide an example of the resulting image.

However, as these photos are typically taken at major PGA of BC gatherings such as the Spring Education Seminar and Buying Show, there have been few opportunities to offer this service over the past year.

In the absence of these gatherings for the foreseeable future, the administration team would be pleased to add the PGA of BC backdrop to an existing portrait photo for any interested members. Photos should be framed from the middle of the torso and up, with the subject facing the camera straight on but with their body oriented right of the camera as in the example photo, preferably on a solid-colour or white background. Business formal attire is strongly recommended.

Send your high-resolution image meeting the above description to Communications & Marketing Manager Eric MacKenzie at [email protected] for processing.
