PGA OF BC NAMES 2023 CAREER & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TOP 100
The PGA of BC is proud to recognize its 2023 Career & Professional Development Top 100, as determined by the Association’s Career & Professional Development Program (PDP) points race presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones.
The PDP points race acknowledges PGA of BC Professionals who make outstanding contributions to the Association, their communities, the province’s golf industry and, most importantly, themselves. The PDP provides an avenue to showcase and reward the diverse strengths of PGA of BC Professionals by crediting their participation in continuing education, the Association’s annual Buying Show and Awards Program, tournament competition and various forms of volunteerism.
The PGA of BC is proud to announce that Callum Ashby, Head Professional at Highland Pacific Golf, has topped the standings with a whopping 130 points to finish with a 19-point lead. This is Ashby’s first time topping the points race, an achievement he earned through his dedication to professional development, education, competition and service to the Association, his club and his community.
Please click here to view the final standings from the 2023 season and to learn more about the Professional Development Program.
Thanks to the patronage of Sunice & Bobby Jones, the top-10 finishers on the points race will once again split a bursary purse of nearly $5,000, meant to provide financial opportunity and incentive to pursue additional education and professional-development undertakings in the future. We thank Sunice & Bobby Jones for their generous, ongoing support of the program.

VIRTUAL EDUCATION SERIES PRESENTED BY FORESIGHT SPORTS CANADA: ALLAN KEHLER - "FIND YOUR VOICE, FIND YOUR POWER"
The 2024 Virtual Education Series presented by Foresight Sports Canada kicks off tomorrow, January 18 at 10:00am PT with a presentation from Allan Kehler. Members can register for the individual presentation, or sign up for the Virtual Education Bundle which grants access to the full slate of online presentations taking place this year. Those presentations include LPGA Tour legend Dottie Pepper and PGA of BC Professional and social media star Michael Caan, with additional presentations to be announced. To register for Allan's presentation or the Bundle, please click here.
Mental health advocate, international keynote speaker, and best-selling author of four books, Allan will speak on prioritizing mental health, balance, and resilience through his inspiring presentation, “Find your Voice. Find your Power.”
For nearly a decade, Allan instructed various mental health related courses at the college level while also working as an addiction’s counselor and clinical case manager. As a keynote speaker, Allan uses humour and compassion to create a safe space where people feel seen, heard and supported.
Rooted in tradition, golf is a sport where many individuals remain silent when struggling with their mental health. This, in turn, causes individuals to sacrifice their health, safety, and future success. However, silence has never been the answer, and understanding the power of your voice is the first step in finding true freedom.
Having experienced challenges with mental illness, addictions, and suicide first-hand, Allan shares his captivating story of resilience and hope. Through his story, you will learn how to share your own story, embrace vulnerability, and connect to yourself and others in a more authentic way. By finding your own voice, you will be able to inspire others to find theirs.
Allan has shared workshop material for attendees to utilize throughout his presentation. To access this material, please click here.

EXPANDED SPECIALTY LICENSE PLATE PROGRAM COULD BE HUGE BENEFIT TO GOLF IN THE PROVINCE... AND YOU CAN HELP!
Information via British Columbia Golf
BC has had specialty licenses in support of veterans and provincial parks since 2017 and government now wants to gauge interest to add other organizations.
British Columbia Golf, in conjunction with our province’s Allied Golf Association would like to see golf take advantage of this opportunity where proceeds from specialty license plate purchases would go to the sponsoring organization.
In golf’s case, this would be used to encourage kids to get more physically active through golf and to promote B.C. as a destination for tourist golfers.
You can help golf get selected as one of these organizations by voicing your support by taking two minutes to fill out an online questionnaire.
“British Columbia Golf, in conjunction with our partners in the Allied Golf Association have long advocated for a golf themed license plate program in BC. We believe BC golfers would welcome an opportunity to display their passion for the sport and pride in the quality of golf within the province by displaying a golf themed plate on their vehicle. We urge all golfers to complete the survey and show support for a golf themed license plate.” - Kris Jonasson, CEO of British Columbia Golf
The survey is now open and you can find out more plus voice your support HERE.
