GREAT PERFORMANCES DURING JACK McLAUGHLIN JUNIOR CHALLENGE
More than 100 girls and boys at 10 PGA of BC facilities participated in last week's Jack McLaughlin Memorial Junior Golf Challenge presented by COBRA PUMA Golf , with dozens posting great results in the net-scoring event.

The Junior Challenge, special for 2020 and held in lieu of the Pro-Junior Championship, tasked young players with completing a 9- or 18-hole round under mock tournament conditions at their home clubs and submitting scores to a province-wide leaderboard via their PGA of BC Professionals.

Congratulations to 14-year-old William Wei (Quilchena Golf & Country Club), whose outstanding club-championship round of net 64 on the par-73 Richmond layout put him atop the 18-hole leaderboard at 9-under-par. Second place belonged to 12-year-old DJ Crowe (Salmon Arm Golf Club) at 7-under, while 12-year-old Emily Stewart (Quilchena Golf & Country Club) finished third at 6-under.

The 9-hole leaderboard featured Point Grey Golf & Country Club competitors occupying the top three spots after two-dozen juniors at the facility played alongside five of Point Grey's PGA of BC Professionals. Leading the way was 11-year-old Selena Chen , who turned in a net 6-under-par round on the course’s front nine to take top spot. Second place was shared by 14-year-old Will Queree and 10-year-old Lucas Lin , who both finished at 5-under.

The PGA of BC congratulates all Junior Challenge participants for their sportsmanship and enthusiasm for competition. The Association is hopeful that circumstances will allow for the Pro-Junior Championship’s return in 2021.
INCREDIBLE TOTALS RAISED THROUGH GOLFATHON FOR ALS
The 2020 Golfathon for ALS presented by Pacific Blue Cross has seen PGA of BC Professionals and friends play a cumulative total of more than 7,000 holes while raising a significant amount of funds in support of the ALS Society of BC.

Final totals will be revealed in October during the PGA of BC Awards Celebration as in past years, but more than $180,000 has been raised for the long-running initiative this year. That figure had been achieved before Richmond Country Club held its Golfathon this past Monday, while Cowichan Golf Club's team remains hopeful to conduct its Golfathon in August as well.

The PGA of BC would like to thank all Golfathon participants for lending their muscles in honour of those living with ALS who have lost the use of their own, and to all who have donated to support this tremendous cause.

It's not too late to make a donation. Click below to learn more about the Golfathon for ALS and to pledge your support.
