GREAT DAY AT MAYFAIR LAKES G&CC FOR SPONSOR-MEDIA INVITATIONAL
The PGA of BC administration team was proud to welcome more than 110 of the Association's Preferred Partners, industry friends and other special guests to Mayfair Lakes Golf & Country Club for the Association's annual Sponsor-Media Invitational on Monday.

Guests were treated to a beautiful day on the golf course, a delicious meal, and took home a number of great gifts and draw prizes in appreciation of their support of the PGA of BC.

Thank you to Executive Professional Mike Smedstad , Head Professional Brian Coe and the entire team at Mayfair Lakes for their hospitality and helping to put on a great event once again this year. The Richmond facility has been a tremendous venue for the Sponsor-Media Invitational for several years running, and many of our guests had glowing reviews of the golf course after completing their rounds Monday.

OFFICE CLOSURE NOTICE
Please note that the PGA of BC administration office will be closed on Monday, Aug. 5 in observance of British Columbia Day.

Regular office hours will resume Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 8 a.m. PT. The next edition of E-News will be issued on Thursday, Aug. 8.

The PGA of BC wishes all members and friends a safe and happy holiday weekend.
CONGRATULATIONS
Finlay Young (The Harvest Golf Club, pictured) conquered the Quail Course on Monday when the Interior PGA Tour was back in action at The Okanagan Golf Club.

Young carded a 3-under-par round of 69 to take top spot in the event, collecting $500 for the win. Rob Anderson (Kelowna Golf & Country Club) and Cody Bell (Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club) shared runner-up honours after both finished at even-par, earning $325 apiece.

The Kootenay Pro Tour also resumed its schedule Monday, with Jamie Curiston (Wildstone Golf Course) topping the field at Cranbrook Golf Club. Curiston made eagle on the opening hole as part of an even-par 72 that gave him a two-shot victory. Jeremy Johnson (Fairmont Hot Springs Resort) placed second with a 74, while third place belonged to Dennis Bradley (Copper Point Golf Club) with a 75.

Helen Jung has successfully completed the National training program and becomes a Class "A" Professional

Caolan Teasdale has returned from a Leave of Absence and becomes a Candidate for Membership at Lago Golf Academy

Koki Maeda 's application to the PGA of Canada has been accepted and he becomes a Candidate for Membership at Canadian Sport Business Academy

FACT OF THE WEEK
Golf Professionals are reminded that the PGA of British Columbia offers two annual financial awards that are designed to support an Association member's professional development or efforts to give back within their community. 

The Jim Gibson Scholarship, named in honour of the longtime PGA of BC ambassador, is awarded each year to an individual within the PGA of BC community that best exemplifies volunteerism and demonstrates dedication to furthering their education to benefit others in a community. The 2018 recipient was  David Stashuk  (Capilano Golf & Country Club).

The PGA of BC Community Leadership Bursary is awarded to an individual or facility within the Association demonstrating an extraordinary desire to make a significant difference in the lives of those around them, and in doing so, sets an example of "giving back" that all PGA of BC members can be proud of. The 2018 recipient was  Revelstoke Golf Club .
