SCOTT KOLB ELECTED PGA of CANADA SECRETARY
Victoria Golf Club Executive Professional Scott Kolb (pictured), BC's representative on the National Board of Directors, has been elected as PGA of Canada Secretary.

Kolb's position as an officer was confirmed during last week's PGA of Canada Annual General Meeting. He will serve the role as Secretary for the next two years.

The AGM also saw Ontario's Teejay Alderdice named the 48th President of the PGA of Canada. He succeeds Saskatchewan's Mark Patterson , who had served as President since 2018. Ottawa's Gord Percy has assumed the Vice-President role previously held by Alderdice.

In other business arising from the meeting, the title change of Candidate for Membership to Apprentice Professional was officially ratified.

GOLFATHONS FOR ALS TAKING PLACE THIS WEEK
PGA of BC Professionals will begin participating in the Golfathon for ALS presented by Pacific Blue Cross this week, with many more events scheduled throughout the month of June.

Members and industry friends taking part in this great cause will try to complete as many holes as possible from sunrise to sunset in support of the ALS Society of BC. The initiative, now in its 15th season, is poised to surpass $2 million raised for ALS patient services since its inception this year.

The following facilities will host a Golfathon for ALS in the week ahead:
  • June 11 - Arbutus Ridge Golf Club - Andy Hajer & Jayme Young
  • June 14 - Gallagher's Canyon Golf Club - Lee Alarie & Jason Jurimae
  • June 17 - Copper Point Golf Club - Brian Schaal, Scott McClain, Dale Moore, Dennis Bradley

CONGRATULATIONS
The Vancouver Island Club Pro Series kicked off its schedule this week with 18 players in the field at Highland Pacific Golf.

Justin Clews (Uplands Golf Club) secured a three-shot victory in windy conditions Monday, posting an even-par 71 and taking home $485. Runner-up honours went to Gordy Scutt (Victoria Golf Club), whose 74 was worth $395. Nate Ollis (Cordova Bay Golf Course) carded a 75 for third place, earning $270.

For Sale: Range Balls

Cultus Lake Golf Club has between 19,000 and 20,000 used range balls for sale.

The used balls are a mix of grade “B” and grade “C”. Some were self-striped used balls approx. 7-10 years old. Most are varying name-brand range balls that have been purchased to top up the range each year. The most recent ones are Titleist Tour Practice balls that are 3 years old. Please see photo for reference. Balls do not have any club logos or branding.

Price is 20 cents per ball, or 15 cents per ball for purchases of 10,000 or more balls.

FACT OF THE WEEK
The PGA of BC will be administering the first Playing Ability Test in Canada to be conducted under the new testing structure next week in Kamloops.

Seventeen applicants to the PGA of Canada are registered to participate in the June 17 PAT taking place at Rivershore Golf Links.

As of 2020, those needing to verify their playing ability to join the PGA of Canada will now do so over 18 holes, with target scores now based upon age and gender. The PGA of BC wishes best of luck to all participating in next week's event.

Further PATs to be hosted in British Columbia are scheduled for July 14 at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and Sept. 3 at Meadow Gardens Golf Club. Click below for more information.
