REGISTER NOW FOR PGA of BC PRO-ASSISTANT CHAMPIONSHIP
Registration is ongoing for next month's G&G Golf Company & Callaway Golf PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championship, scheduled for July 6-7 at The Okanagan Golf Club.

The 36-hole team event is open to Club Professionals (Head, Executive & Head Teaching Professionals) and another member from the same facility. Teams compete against their colleagues with Round 1 played in best-ball format and final round in scramble.

All Club Professionals received an update via email on June 11 with more information specific to this year's event. Please contact [email protected] if you would like these details re-sent. We are pleased to note that this tournament will now be contested on both the Bear and Quail courses for Round 1 and 2, respectively.

Registration will close at 4 p.m. PT on Friday, June 26. Please note that the early registration rate will remain in effect until the deadline this year.

HUNDREDS OF HOLES PLAYED IN GOLFATHONS FOR ALS
The Golfathon for ALS presented by Pacific Blue Cross is officially underway, with PGA of BC Professionals taking part in the first events of this season over the past week.

Andy Hajer and Jayme Young kicked things off Thursday at Arbutus Ridge Golf Club, playing 108 holes over the course of the day.

On Sunday, it was Gallagher's Canyon Golf Club's turn, with Lee Alarie , Jason Jurimae and Lionel Taylor (pictured) braving the rain to complete 101 holes over 17 hours.

Non-Professional Deryl Priebe , a 69-year-old member at Black Mountain Golf Club, added to our 2020 totals by walking 81 holes at the Kelowna course on Monday.

Finally, the Copper Point Golf Club foursome of Brian Schaal , Scott McClain , Dale Moore and Dennis Bradle y teed off before 5 a.m. this morning, with Schaal recording an ace on the group's fourth tour of the day!

ELEVEN APPLICANTS PASS PGA of BC PAT AT RIVERSHORE GOLF LINKS
Eleven of 17 participants were successful in meeting 18-hole target scores during Wednesday's PGA of BC Playing Ability Test held at Rivershore Golf Links, the first to be conducted nationally under the PGA of Canada's new testing format.

Under the format introduced for 2020, each participant has a target score to meet based upon their age and gender to satisfy the PGA of Canada's playing ability requirements. For men and women aged 49 and under, the target score is calculated by adding nine and 13 strokes to the course rating, respectively. For men and women aged 50-plus, the target score is determined by adding 11 and 15 strokes, respectively.

Each of the successful applicants have now taken an important step towards obtaining membership within the PGA of Canada.

APPLY TO JOIN PGA of CANADA DIVERSITY & INCLUSION TASK FORCE
Last week, the PGA of Canada announced the creation of a Diversity & Inclusion Task Force, and welcomed all to apply to participate in the initiative.

The task force will be seeking opportunities for the Association to better serve under-represented groups, including women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, individuals with disabilities and members of the LGBT2Q+ community. The task force encourages PGA of Canada members and those from outside the Association to apply.

"We pride ourselves on being the lifeblood of the game of golf -- and it's this very lifeblood that connects us together," read a PGA of Canada statement. "Golf has the opportunity to act as a powerful catalyst for change, and the PGA of Canada is committed to being part of the solution."

For Sale: Range Balls

Cultus Lake Golf Club has between 19,000 and 20,000 used range balls for sale.

The used balls are a mix of grade “B” and grade “C”. Some were self-striped used balls approx. 7-10 years old. Most are varying name-brand range balls that have been purchased to top up the range each year. The most recent ones are Titleist Tour Practice balls that are 3 years old. Please see photo for reference. Balls do not have any club logos or branding.

Price is 20 cents per ball, or 15 cents per ball for purchases of 10,000 or more balls. Reasonable offers will be considered.

FACT OF THE WEEK
The record for most holes played during a single Golfathon for ALS still belongs to  Jamie Stevens , who played 472 holes at Kelowna Golf & Country Club in a 24-hour period back in 2012. 

Not only does that add up to more than 26 full rounds of golf, Stevens also made 116 birdies, six eagles and an ace along the way.
