GOLFATHON FOR ALS HITS MORE PGA of BC FACILITIES
The 14th annual PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS is once again having a great impact in support of the ALS Society of BC as member Professionals and friends play as many holes as possible while garnering donations along the way.

Among highlights over the past week, Michael Van Horne scored an ace during the Golfathon held at The Rise Golf Course on Monday. Van Horne's hole-in-one came on No. 16 during fourth of seven full rounds he played with Chad Scott .

Yesterday, Nathan Grieve and Harris Stoneman completed exactly 200 holes each at Talking Rock Golf Course, surpassing their goal of playing 11 full rounds of golf in one day.

Dale Schienbein and the staff at Seymour Golf & Country Club also had a busy day yesterday, spending more than 15 hours on course while supporting the Golfathon for ALS for a 14th consecutive year.

Though the month is winding down, Golfathons will continue into July. Coming up over the next week, members and friends at the following facilities will be completing their Golfathon for ALS:
  • June 27 - Gallagher's Canyon Golf & Country Club

LAST CHANCE FOR EARLY PRO-JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION
The Jack McLaughlin Memorial PGA of BC Pro-Junior Championship presented by COBRA PUMA Golf returns to Vancouver Island next month and members are encouraged to register their teams while the early registration rate is still available.

This year's event is scheduled for July 22 at Highland Pacific Golf. The Pro-Junior Championship is a unique event in which PGA of BC Professionals team up with three junior competitors from their facility to compete in two-net best-ball play over 18 holes. This is a fantastic event for juniors with limited tournament experience, as the net-scoring format makes it possible for players of all ages and ability levels to contribute to their team's success. Teams registered to date include the entire roster of last year's winning entry from Nanaimo Golf Club: Professional Chris Martens and juniors Sasha Farenholtz , Kirit Lalh and Eli Greene .

Early registration rates will be in effect until July 1; general registration will close on July 12.

Please take note of fundraising opportunities available meant to reduce the costs of travel and registration for participating teams. Facilities with teams requiring ferry travel to the event are also encouraged to apply for subsidized travel through the BC Ferries Sport Experience Program administered by viaSport BC. Applications must be submitted at least 12 business days prior to the first day of travel, so we recommend applying for this program no later than July 3 . Full details can be found on the tournament page.

Click below to access the tournament page, including links to registration and full event details. Professionals registering are reminded that they must have all junior competitors complete a consent form, which can be found on the tournament page as well.
CANUCKS JUNIOR GOLF WEEK KICKS OFF TUESDAY
Canucks Junior Golf Week presented by Odlum Brown Limited is set to return July 2-9 at more than 30 PGA of BC facilities across the province, and the Association is proud to have achieved record participation once again this year.

Now in its sixth year, this great grow-the-game initiative allows girls and boys aged 5 & up to learn the basics of our sport from PGA of BC Professionals in a fun, affordable setting. Thirty-two PGA of BC facilities will host a combined total of 59 camps across the province during the 2019 program.

This year, nearly 1,200 youth are registered to participate, which is close to a 50-per-cent increase over last year's previous record total. More than 3,500 British Columbia youth have participated in Canucks Junior Golf Week since 2014, approximately half of whom had no prior golf experience. The $20 camp registration fee includes rental clubs (if required), facility fees, instruction and multiple take-home gifts.

The PGA of BC would like to thank exclusive presenting sponsor Odlum Brown Limited for its continued support of the program. Thanks also to our contributing partners at Srixon and Kal Tire for their patronage, and to the Vancouver Canucks and BC Hockey for helping to make this program possible once again.

RECENT RESULTS
Yet another Interior Tour event held at Fairview Mountain Golf Club ended with a host Professional atop the leaderboard this week -- two of them, in fact.

Brian McDonald (pictured at left) and Rob Tadey (right) shared first place in Saturday's Fairview Mountain Ladies Pro-Am by carding 4-under-par rounds of 68. Both players took home $1,900 for their efforts. Ethan Danish (Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy) was the next-best PGA of BC Professional in the field, shooting a 70 that was worth $1,200.

Meanwhile, Jamie Curiston (Wildstone Golf Course) earned his first Professional win during Monday's Kootenay Pro Tour event at St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino. His 4-under-par 68 topped the field by two strokes and put a cheque for $587 in his pocket. Trevor Simkins (Bootleg Gap Golf Course) was the runner-up, shooting 70 for $410, while third place was shared by Chris Medford (St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino) and Jeremy Johnson (Fairmont Hot Springs Resort), who collected $266 apiece for their 72s.
