TWO WORKSHOPS LEFT TO GO IN 2021 EDUCATION SERIES
The PGA of BC's 2021 Education Series presented by Foresight Sports Canada continued Tuesday with another excellent presentation courtesy of our Preferred Partners at Dale Carnegie Training of BC.

Director of Training Erin MacAngus-Marshall (pictured) led an engaging workshop on Leadership Blind Spots, challenging attendees to reflect upon areas where gaps in leadership may exist within their own teams and at their workplaces.

Members are reminded that the Dale Carnegie-led sessions will not be made available for later viewing. However, the other six presentations conducted since the series began in January have all been posted to the Education Series Archive.

There are now just two sessions left to go in the 2021 Education Series, set to take place over the next two weeks.

Next up will be 2015 PGA of BC Alvie Thompson Teacher of the Year Award recipient Casey Johnson, now a National Zone PGA of Canada member, who will be sharing his expertise from working abroad and as an LPGA Tour caddie, and what advice he has for club-level Professionals based upon his experiences. The session will take place Tuesday, March 16 at 10 a.m. PT.

The final installment of the series is set for Thursday, March 25 at 1 p.m. PT, when Jason Giesbrecht (The Golf Performance Project) will present on the topic of Teaching with Technology.

Member registration for individual sessions is priced at $10 (plus GST) each. Non-members are welcome to attend any workshop of the series, with a reference from a Class “A” Professional, for $20 (plus GST). Please note that registration fees do not include recorded sessions posted to the Education Series Archive. Registration for all individual sessions closes at 12:00 p.m. PT the day prior.

Find full details on the remaining workshops and registration information via the PGA of BC’s Schedule of Events page.

We look forward to seeing you online again next week.
SIGN UP NOW TO BRING 2021 GOLFATHON FOR ALS TO YOUR FACILITY
The Golfathon for ALS presented by Pacific Blue Cross will return in 2021 for a 16th consecutive year, and PGA of BC Professionals and facilities are encouraged to sign up now to participate.

Throughout the month of June, PGA of BC members and friends participating in the Golfathon for ALS strive to play as many holes as possible in a single day to support the ALS Society of British Columbia, lending their muscles in honour of those who have lost the use of their own due to the effects of the neurodegenerative neuromuscular disease.

The initiative made huge strides once again in 2020, with donations exceeding $200,000 in a single year for the first time. That brought the cumulative total of funds raised by PGA of BC members to support ALS patients and their families to nearly $2.1 million since the program's inception.

Those interested in participating need only to select a day in June when they can conduct a Golfathon at their facility, while the ALS Society of BC looks after the major remaining details. Participants will receive a promotional kit in advance, while donations are accepted via the Golfathon website and the ALS Society provides media outreach on behalf of all participating facilities.

Those considering supporting this worthy cause in 2021 may contact ALS Society of BC Executive Director Wendy Toyer at w.toyer@alsbc.ca to declare their interest or to learn more.

Ron Laugher, the first Professional I worked under at Calgary Elks Golf Club, who taught me the importance of professionalism.

What career path led you to where you are today?
After the Elks Golf Club (now known as the Winston Golf Club), I went to Calgary's Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club in 1989 as an Associate Professional.
