Members are reminded of the opportunity to complete the PGA of Canada membership survey, which is now accepting responses to help shape the future of the Association and provides a chance to win great prizes if completed by the deadline.

The PGA of Canada and its nine zone offices have collaborated to author this all-encompassing survey that will help set strategic planning on a national level and ensure the Association's priorities align with those of members across the country.

The survey contains more than 100 questions and will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete, but does not need to be filled out all at once, as entries will be saved so it can be completed in multiple sessions. All responses will be kept confidential.

Those completing the survey prior to the April 11 deadline will be entered into a draw for prizes, including payment of 2022 membership dues, a $500 VISA gift card, a $500 PGA of Canada Training Academy voucher, and a $100 PGA shop voucher.

Applicants and others interested in joining the PGA of Canada are advised of next week's registration deadline for the April 7 Playing Ability Test (PAT) being held at Ledgeview Golf Club.

Space is limited in this PAT, so early registration is encouraged to ensure a place in the event. All applicants must have submitted the necessary documentation in advance in order to register prior to the deadline, which falls on March 31.

Please be advised of the new 2021 requirements for applications to the PGA of Canada. In order for applications to be considered, they now must include verification of employment and multiple letters of reference.
Prospective applicants must meet the following entrance requirements prior to registering for a Playing Ability Test (PAT):
  • Be aged 18 years or older
  • Hold at least a high-school diploma
  • Be currently working in the golf industry -- to be verified by their employer -- and work a minimum of 400 verifiable industry hours per year
  • Provide two reference letters; one from the golf-industry employer and another from a Class "A" Professional. In cases where the employer is a Class "A" Professional, one letter can fulfill both requirements

Click below for more information on the April 7 PAT, including registration and target scores for each age and gender category. Please contact Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington with any inquiries.

Head Golf Professional - Mountain View Golf Club
Class "A" Professional, Pheasant Glen Golf Resort

PGA of Canada member since: 2012

Why did you become a PGA of Canada Professional?
I worked in a back shop in my hometown of Lloydminster, Sask. as a junior golfer. At the end of one summer, I asked the Head Professional how to join the pro shop staff and not clean clubs anymore. That conversation lead me to applying to Grant MacEwan College to enroll in the Professional Golf Management Program. Shortly after turning 18, I joined the PGA of Canada.

Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
The person that has most influenced my career is Gord Melissa, the Head Professional I work under at Pheasant Glen. Since making the move to the PGA of BC Zone, he has helped me grow as a Professional and assisted me in becoming a better instructor and coach.

What is your most cherished golf memory?
One golf memory that I cherish is getting a hole-in-one on a par-4 at the age of 14. It was on the 284-yard 14th hole at Alberta's Wainwright Golf Club.

If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?
Every day seems to be filled with different tasks and different people. Not may careers see change like this from day to day and this can make it very rewarding.

Members are reminded that registration for all 2021 PGA of BC championship tournaments will open on Thursday, April 1.

Spaces in the field of each event are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, so interested players are encouraged to sign up early to avoid missing out.

Members who do not meet all of an event's eligibility criteria -- provided that they fulfill the tournament's membership category, age and gender requirements where applicable -- are welcome to register starting April 1 as well. Should an event reach capacity, registered individuals who are not fully eligible will be moved to a priority-order wait list.

Registration links will become active at 9 a.m. PT on April 1, accessible from each tournament info page and the 2021 PGA of BC Schedule of Events page. Please direct any inquiries to Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington.
