WE ARE GOLF ISSUES STATEMENT ON COVID-19
Earlier today, We Are Golf issued the following statement on the COVID-19 pandemic as it relates to the Canadian golf industry:

"We Are Golf (The National Allied Golf Associations/NAGA) are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our members, golfers, staff, volunteers and industry stakeholders as well as every Canadian in the communities where we live, work and play.

The COVID-19 crisis is an unprecedented and difficult time for Canadians. We Are Golf fully supports the recommendations and guidelines of Health Canada, the World Health Organization and regional public health experts to stop the community spread of the virus. As leaders in an industry that employs more than 300,000 Canadians and includes nearly six million golfers from coast to coast, our priority above all else is the health and safety of our people and our communities.

Where governments have not mandated the temporary closure of golf courses, operators of those facilities should take every health and safety precaution. We Are Golf also advocates for the essential need for golf course property maintenance during any of the temporary closures to be ready for operation while taking every health and safety precaution.

We look forward to better and healthier days and when the time is right for Canadians to return to recreational normalcy, clubs and courses will be ready to welcome golfers back to the tee."

FINAL 2020 PGA of BC EDUCATION SERIES EVENT CANCELLED
Due to ongoing concerns stemming from the COVID-19 epidemic, the PGA of BC administration team regrets to announce that the April 27 stop on the PGA of BC Education Series presented by Foresight Sports Canada at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort has been cancelled.

Although there are no plans to administer this event at a later date in 2020, we would certainly consider all options should the right opportunity present itself. Please note that we have processed refunds for all individuals who had already registered for this event.

The Education Series cannot be possible without the ongoing support from a very key partner of the PGA of BC in Foresight Sports Canada . We appreciate its involvement with our Association’s education initiatives and thank the company for its generous patronage.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Trevor Simkins , Simon Jones , and Jason Giesbrecht for their contributions and efforts in presenting at this event. It is our hopes that they will be able to share their presentations, expertise and resources at a future event.

We thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented circumstances.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM POINT SCHEDULE AMENDED
Members are advised that an amendment has been made to the Professional Development Program (PDP) point schedule that impacts how credits are allocated toward the PDP Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones.

Effective immediately, all members now have an opportunity to earn up to a maximum of twenty (20) points annually via participation in the PGA of BC Education Series presented by Foresight Sports Canada. This includes in-person attendance at Education Series events, acting as a presenter or panelist for the series, and by viewing videos in the Education Series Archive.

This change addresses an inequity impacting Northern BC and Kootenay-based Professionals who do not have access to a regional Education Series event compared to their colleagues elsewhere in the province.

Particularly during a time when we’re all limiting our social contact to help curb the spread of COVID-19, the Education Series Archive is an excellent professional-development resource that is fully accessible from the comfort of home. The administration team is working to make all 2020 Education Series recordings available as soon as possible and encourage you to view them as your schedule allows. Please note that recordings from previous years viewed during the current period can also be counted towards your 2020 point total. To view our video archive, please click below.

Please be reminded that in order to be credited for PDP points for viewing Education Series videos, a self-submission must be made at https://www.pgabc.org/pdp , and a purchase receipt must be sent via email to [email protected] after the video has been viewed and completed.
PLAYING ABILITY TESTS POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19

The PAT scheduled for April 7 at Meadow Gardens Golf Club will now be held Sept. 3 at the same venue. A further test that was planned for Arbutus Ridge Golf Club has been removed from the calendar, and more information on a Vancouver Island-region PAT will be announced when details are available.

CONGRATULATIONS
The PGA of BC is pleased to share the news that University Golf Club Head Professional Steve Liddicoat recently became engaged to partner Megan.

Steve's original plan was to propose on a beach during a vacation to Hawaii. But with the trip disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he instead had to improvise by pulling the ring out of a bedroom dresser drawer to pop the question.

The PGA of BC extends its congratulations to the happy couple!
