REGISTRATION FOR 2023 PGA OF BC TOURNAMENTS
OPENS MONDAY
With under two months until tournament play returns, online registration for the upcoming PGA of BC 2023 championship season opens Monday, April 3 at 9 a.m. PT. We are thrilled to be welcoming you back to competition and can’t wait to see you all as the first event gets underway!

Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Club is the host of our leadoff competition, the Tournament of Champions presented by Ping Canada. Head Professional Lee Alarie is ecstatic for the opportunity to show off the charming Kelowna course. He said PGA of BC professionals can look forward to the bright Okanagan sunshine, lush ponderosa-pine-lined holes and hilly climbs through the steep canyon.

“We’re very lucky to have a beautiful golf course, and there’s never a boring shot out here. This is the start of my tenth season here, and I never get tired of the shots it requires you to hit. I think every participant is going to find a lot of beauty and some challenges,” said Alarie.

Registration for all events will open at 9 a.m. on our website. Members are encouraged to register as early as possible, as spaces are projected to fill up quickly.

Jared Siminoff, PGA of BC Interim Executive Director, said he is looking forward to an active, competitive season and to visiting a wide range of courses throughout BC’s many unique regions.

"The PGA of BC championships are a key pillar for many of our members and we have several positive changes to our 2023 championships. Firstly, we are slated to have an average purse increase of nearly 25% for every event on the schedule, with no significant changes to entry fees," said Siminoff.

“A new, restructured regional format for our Pro-Junior tournament will provide an opportunity for our professionals to help support junior golf with a more accessible schedule and less travel. This structure should lay the groundwork to expand our junior golf footprint across the province moving forward. We are also expanding our coverage of women’s golf within the PGA of BC, with an exciting announcement in the coming weeks. Starting with our Women’s Golf Week in late May, the coverage will cascade into our Women’s Championship, capping off our 2023 season.”

The Association is grateful to all our generous sponsors who make the PGA of BC championships possible. For more information, please contact Siminoff at jared@pgabc.org.
PGA OF CANADA ANNOUNCES 2023 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE
Courtesy of the PGA of Canada

Four impeccable venues have been selected in three provinces for the 2023 national championship season, while the date and location for next winter’s Head Professional Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf will be announced at a later date.

The season will open with the 101st playing of the BetRegal PGA Championship at Bigwin Island Golf Club in Baysville, Ontario from June 11-14. The flagship event will feature 75 of the top professionals in the country competing over the course of 54-holes, looking to join the likes of Arnold Palmer and Lee Trevino on the P.D. Ross Trophy.

From there, we will move to Canada’s southern-most city, Kingsville, Ontario, where Kingsville Golf & Country Club will host the top professional and amateur women in the country from July 3-5 for the 36-hole ORORO PGA Women’s Championship of Canada.

One month later, Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, British Columbia will host the top senior players in the country at the PGA Seniors’ Championship of Canada presented by GOLFTEC. All eyes will be on reigning champion Jim Rutledge, who can tie Moe Norman’s record of eight senior championship titles.

The fourth national champion will be crowned September 18-21 just outside Edmonton, Alberta, as The Ranch Golf & Country Club will host the top assistants in the country at the PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf.

Registration for the championships are now open. Refer to the events page on PGAofCanada.com to register. Contact PGA of Canada Championship Manager Matt Mueller via email at matt.m@pgaofcanada.com for more information.
REGISTRATION FOR LOBB + PARTNERS VIRTUAL EDUCATION SERIES CLOSES TOMORROW
Members are reminded that registration for the next PGA of BC Virtual Education Series event closes tomorrow, March 30 at 4 p.m. PT. The presentation will be delivered by Alex Hay, Partner and Design Associate, and Oliver Tubb, Design Associate and PGA of Canada professional, who both represent golf course architecture firm Lobb + Partners.

Hay and Tubb will explain how they explore playable design strategies in order to benefit all golfers. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to gain insight into the different phases of design and what architects look for when constructing a great golf course.

“I really enjoy problem solving. Golf course design is really just problem-solving, and you’re trying to do it in a creative and elegant way. A golf course is a pretty special place to apply those skills and processes,” said Tubb.

To register for this event, please visit the registration link here.

For more information on the Education Series and other opportunities for Professional Development, please contact Interim Executive Director Jared Siminoff at jared@pgabc.org.
