EDUCATION SERIES COMES TO A CLOSE FOR 2021
The PGA of BC's 2021 Education Series presented by Foresight Sports Canada officially drew to a close last week with one final session courtesy of PGA of BC Professional Jason Giesbrecht.

In an informative session to wrap this year's 10-part virtual series, The Golf Performance Project's Head Teaching Professional shared some of his philosophies on teaching and coaching with technology.

More than 200 PGA of BC members and guests participated in at least one workshop of the 2021 Education Series. The Association thanks all attendees and speakers for their participation.

As well, the PGA of BC's education initiatives would not be possible without the tremendous support of Foresight Sports Canada, and we thank them for their continued patronage.

Please note that all sessions comprising this year's series -- aside from those administered by our Preferred Partners at Dale Carnegie Training of BC -- are now available via the Education Series Archive. A nominal fee applies to access the videos, which are eligible for PDP credit with a submission. Click below to access the Education Series Archive.
COMPLETE PGA of CANADA MEMBER SURVEY FOR CHANCE TO WIN
Members are reminded of the opportunity to complete the PGA of Canada membership survey, which is now accepting responses to help shape the future of the Association and provides a chance to win great prizes if completed by the deadline.

The PGA of Canada and its nine zone offices have collaborated to author this all-encompassing survey that will help set strategic planning on a national level and ensure the Association's priorities align with those of members across the country.

The survey contains more than 100 questions and will take approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete, but does not need to be filled out all at once, as entries will be saved so it can be completed in multiple sessions. All responses will be kept confidential.

Those completing the survey prior to the April 11 deadline will be entered into a draw for prizes, including payment of 2022 membership dues, a $500 VISA gift card, a $500 PGA of Canada Training Academy voucher, and a $100 PGA shop voucher.

Click below to access the survey. Please direct any inquiries to PGA of Canada Chief Innovation Officer Matt Allen.
CONGRATULATIONS
The PGA of BC is pleased to share that PGA of BC Professional Chris MacDonald was named the Male Coach of the Year during last week's Sport BC Athlete of the Year Awards.

MacDonald, who coaches the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds men's and women's golf teams and has been coaching at UBC since 2001, was honoured for his work leading the squads in the 2019 season. During that year's campaign, both the men's and women's teams captured the Cascade Collegiate Conference championship, the Golf Canada University Championship, while the women's team earned NAIA and Canada West championship titles as well, helping MacDonald to NAIA Coach of the Year honours.

According to the UBC Athletics department, MacDonald is the first golf coach to receive this award from Sport BC since it was first presented in 1981. A further PGA of BC Professional, Langara Falcons head coach Christine Wong (University Golf Club), was a finalist for the Female Coach of the Year Award during last week's ceremonies.

Please join us in congratulating on his selection for this award! Click below to watch the award presentation, including MacDonald's acceptance speech.

PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- DALE MOORE
Class "A" Professional, Copper Point Golf Club

PGA of Canada member since: 1992

What career path led you to where you are today?
A 12-year career in construction and as a business owner made me think it was time for a career change in 1990. I loved golf, liked coaching and knew the importance of business success. I knew I wasn't going to make a living off of playing golf, so I focused on retail and teaching. Those two things have served me well over my career.

Which significant accomplishments are you most proud of?
Probably taking a little mom-and-pop golf course, Windermere Valley, and growing retail from $8,000 per season to an average of $250,000 per season, building the "Shot Shapers" Golf Academy at Windermere and meeting former junior golfers that I taught who have reached adulthood.

What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?
The lifestyle, meeting interesting people and being in an environment where people are generally in pleasant moods

What is your favourite golf course in British Columbia, and why?
Grey Wolf. Views on every hole, shot value and course conditioning.
