Spring officially sprung on Monday, March 6th, with the opening of the G&G Tour Membership Registration. G&G Brands is excited to be sponsoring the event again this year and wishes all of the PGA of BC Golf Professionals the best of luck in the competition. The 2023 tour kicks off on March 27th at Richmond Country Club and has a great lineup of events already secured into September. We hope to see you out there!
Another event of significance this calendar year is the inaugural G&G Brands Ireland Pro Am taking place October 1 - 7, 2023. Click here to register for the most spectacular event of the year in the golf nirvana of South West Ireland. Only three spaces remain.

REGISTRATION FOR INTERIOR EDUCATION SERIES AT GALLAGHER'S CANYON GOLF CLUB CLOSES NEXT WEEK

|
Overholt, Professional at Harvest Golf Club, will be presenting on how to improve your player's game without changing their swing. Dr. Taylor, past chair of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association and current member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, will speak to how you can use sport and performance psychology techniques to maximize golfer learning, motivation, error management, and overall performance. TD Bank Group will offer their expert insight on the changing economic climate and its outlook.

SIGN-UP FOR CANUCKS JUNIOR GOLF WEEK HOST FACILITIES OPENS TODAY
|
Canucks Junior Golf Week runs from July 10-17, and camps can be hosted any days during the week. Host facilities will be reimbursed $18/participant, and campers will be given a free Canucks gift. Last year, we had over 600 kids participate at more than 30 golf facilities throughout the province as we returned from COVID. This year, our goal is two grow the program to over 1,000 junior golfers, and we encourage facilities to participate in this rewarding and valuable program.

PGA OF BC TEAM TO PROMOTE CANUCKS JUNIOR GOLF WEEK AT UPCOMING GAME
|
This Saturday, PGA of BC Interim Executive Director Jared Siminoff and Programs Manager Dan Czerwenka will be at the Canucks' "Next Generation Night" game as they take on the Ottawa Senators. They will be handing out information about Canucks Junior Golf Week presented by TD Bank Group, and will be distributing free Canucks tee-gifts to parents registering for early sign-up email notifications.
Siminoff and Czerwenka will be interacting with parents and working to drive interest in this important initiative. Find them at the PGA of BC booth located in the Rogers Arena concourse this Saturday.

NEW PRESENTATIONS ADDED TO VIRTUAL EDUCATION SERIES BUNDLE, SCHEDULE RESTRUCTURED
|
|
The PGA of BC has announced a restructured Virtual Education Series schedule to include those speakers who were scheduled to speak at the Victoria Education Series event, cancelled due to extreme weather. If you previously purchased the Virtual Education Series bundle, we have now added the individual presentations from the Victoria Education Series to your pass. Members can still purchase this all-inclusive pass for access to every virtual event, and will be sent video copies of the two presentations that have already occurred this year.
The upcoming virtual event with guest speaker Jeff Simonds, Assistant General Manager & Senior Director of Operations at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, has been rescheduled from Wednesday, March 8 to Wednesday, March 15 at 10 a.m. PT. Kyman Chan, Partner at leading global accounting firm Grant Thornton LLP, will present Monday, March 20 at 3:30 p.m. PT. More information on a presentation from Jason Giesbrecht, Head Teaching Professional at The Golf Performance Project, will be announced soon.

PGA OF CANADA ANNOUNCES 2023 PLAYING ABILITY TEST SCHEDULE
|
The PGA of Canada has announced the dates and locations for BC's Playing Ability Tests set to take place in 2023.
The first test of the year will occur at Rivershore Golf Links in Kamloops on June 7. Registration closes May 29.

JESSE MOUSSA WINS FIRST VANCOUVER ISLAND CLUB PRO TOUR EVENT OF 2023
|
Moussa earns a winner's cheque of $775. Runner-up spot belonged to Lance McCullough (Cordova Bay Golf Course) with a round of 69 (-1), the only other player with a sub-par-round. McCullough’s solo second-place finish earns him $560. Tied for a share of third-place was Nate Ollis (Cordova Bay Golf Course) and Axle Riley (Ardmore Golf Course) who both fired even-par-rounds of 70. Ollis and Riley collect $405 a piece for their shared spot of third-place.

PGA OF BC RECEIVES OVER 190 APPLICATIONS FOR OPEN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR POSITION

The PGA of BC is pleased to announce that we have received over 190 applications for the open Executive Director position. The application deadline closed February 24.
Fresh Golf Solutions' Scott Kolb has started the screening process for interviews. The Hiring Committee, made up of PGA of BC President Ashley Zibrik, Vice President of Finance Lenny Cyr, and past Presidents Jonathan Kadin and Adam Blair, look forward to announcing the new Executive Director later this Spring. They will be conducting a thorough and complete search to ensure they hire the best possible candidate. We thank you for your patience and look forward to filling the role.

Did you know the PGA of BC will be highlighting female members through Women's Golf Week and offering resources to women from beginners to advanced, as well as sharing tournaments and events?
Affiliated facilities and PGA Professionals are encouraged to sign up for Women's Golf Day and support the established network of facilities participating around the globe.
This initiative was started to engage, empower and support girls and women through golf. The PGA of BC strongly believes in supporting women's journeys through golf and would like to celebrate women’s importance in golf providing a week where people, irrespective of race, religion, language, ethnicity, or geography, continue to see an increase year after year of women participating and consuming golf in their lives.
The PGA of BC office team would like to wish all members a happy International Women's Day. We are so grateful to all the amazing women in our Association who represent and grow the game in BC.
