EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR PGA of BC BUYING SHOW
The 2019 PGA of BC Buying Show will return to the Richmond Olympic Oval on Oct. 16-17 and the registration window is now open for interested exhibitors .

The largest show of its kind in British Columbia, the PGA of BC Buying Show is annually one of the largest gatherings of Association members. More than 150 golf facilities from across BC were represented at last year's show, making it a can't-miss event for industry exhibitors and a one-stop shop for retailers and facility operators. EDUCATION SERIES CONCLUDES WITH GREAT KOOTENAY-REGION EVENT
The final stop on the 2019 PGA of BC Education Series presented by  Foresight Sports Canada , held Monday at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, was yet another great event with valuable takeaways for all Golf Professionals in attendance. 

Twenty-three area members -- the largest-ever turnout for this event in the Kootenay region -- were on hand for the gathering, which featured revealing presentations from local Head Professionals Cindy Soukoroff (St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino) and Scott McClain (Copper Point Golf Club, pictured).

Video of both presentations were captured Monday and will be made available to all members on the Education Series Archive page when processed.

Thank you to host Head Professional Jeremy Johnson and the entire staff at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort for welcoming the event to its facilities once again, and to Foresight Sports Canada for its ongoing commitment to professional development.

EARLY REGISTRATION STILL AVAILABLE FOR FIRST TWO TOURNAMENTS
May's arrival means the PGA of BC's 2019 championship schedule will be underway later this month, and members are reminded that early registration rates are still in effect for the first two events.

The PGA of BC Tournament of Champions presented by Tee-On Golf Systems will be held May 27 on the Ridge Course at Northview Golf & Country Club. This unique event sees Club Professionals join forces with a club champion or designated amateur from their facility to compete as two-person best-ball teams over 18 holes. Professional defending champion Matthew Palsenbarg (The Tour LAB @ Northview) and 2017 winners Lindsay Bernakevitch and Craig Doell (Victoria Golf Club) are among those expected to compete.

The PGA of BC Assistants' & Seniors' Championships presented by Natera Sport will take place June 6-7 at Seymour Golf & Country Club. This marks the first time since 2015 that these 36-hole stroke-play championships will be conducted in the Lower Mainland. Oliver Tubb (University Golf Club) and Norm Jarvis (Sunshine Woods Golf Course) are the defending Assistants' & Seniors' champions, respectively.

Event registration for the Tournament of Champions will remain open until May 17, but members must sign up by May 7 to receive the early registration rate. Assistants' & Seniors' Championship registration closes May 27, with early rates available until May 16. CONGRATULATIONS
A busy week of regional tour play saw circuits in the Interior and Kootenay regions hold their first events of the season counting toward the PGA of BC Order of Merit.

Cody Bell (Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club, pictured) tasted victory on the Interior PGA Tour, claiming Monday's event at Kamloops Golf & Country Club with a 4-under-par 68. His round was good for a one-stroke victory and a $500 payday. Ethan Danish (Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy) finished alone in second place with a 69, pocketing $350, while Finlay Young (The Harvest Golf Club) fired a 70 to claim third place and $300. In Kootenay Pro Tour action, Jeremy Johnson (Fairmont Hot Springs Resort) was the top Professional in Monday's event held on his facility's Riverside Course. Johnson carded a 3-under 68 and earned $464 for the result. Kyle Crawford (Radium Resort) posted a 74 to take next spot on the leaderboard and a $338 cheque, and Cindy Soukoroff (St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino) rounded out the top three Professionals with a 75 that was worth $251. Amateur competitor and PGA of BC Executive Director Donald Miyazaki made eight birdies Monday en route to a 5-under 66 and the overall triumph. Click here for full results .

The G&G Tour schedule resumed on Monday as well, with Philip Jonas (Philip Jonas Golf Academy) taking down the victory at Tsawwassen Springs, his second title on tour this season. Jonas had five birdies and a lone bogey on his card, recording a 4-under 66 to win $500. Christine Wong (Langara College) and Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course) shot matching 67s to share runner-up honours and collect $425 apiece. Click here for full results .

For sale: Slightly used range balls

Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club is selling 1,104 dozen (13,248) slightly used Titleist NXT Tour range balls.

Original wholesale price is $14/dozen, or $1.17 per ball. This quantity would exceed $15,000 if new. Asking price is $2,500 plus applicable taxes.

Balls were used for six months (October 2018 - March 2019), are white in colour, have "PRACTICE" emblazoned on them and do not include a Shaughnessy logo.

FACT OF THE WEEK
PGA of BC championship events are open to all eligible members in good standing, but registration priority may come into effect for some events.

Priority for tournament entries will be given to members working full-time within the golf industry. In the event that a tournament has reached its registration capacity, an alternates list will be created on a first-come, first-served basis.

Candidates for Membership or Association members must be in good standing with the PGA of Canada for a minimum of six months to have their entries accepted, but may be considered if an event has not yet reached capacity.
