LAST CHANCE FOR TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS REGISTRATION
Members are reminded of Friday's registration deadline for the 2019 PGA of BC Tournament of Champions presented by Tee-On Golf Systems Inc.

The first event of the year on the PGA of BC's competition calendar, the Tournament of Champions will take place May 27 at Northview Golf & Country Club. This event features two-person teams comprised of one Club Professional (Head, Executive or Head Teaching Professional) and a club champion or designated amateur from their facility to compete over 18 holes of best-ball play.

Thirty-seven teams are currently registered to participate, including one led by defending champion Matthew Palsenbarg (The Tour LAB @ Northview).

SIGN UP YOUR FACILITY FOR NEXT MONTH'S GOLFATHON FOR ALS
The Association is proud to once again join with the ALS Society of BC next month for the 14th annual Golfathon for ALS, taking place at more than 35 facilities across the province.

Throughout June, more than 110 PGA of BC Professionals will golf from sunrise to sunset to raise funds supporting the ALS Society of BC Patient Services Fund. Approximately $1.7 million has been raised since the program was first founded, including $203,000 in 2018.

Those interested in having their facility participate in this great initiative who have not yet registered to host a Golfathon may do so by contacting ALS Society of BC Executive Director Wendy Toyer at [email protected] .

HOLIDAY CLOSURE NOTICE
Please note that the PGA of BC administration office will have adjusted hours next week in observance of Victoria Day.

The office will be closed on Monday, May 20. Regular office hours will resume at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21. The next edition of E-News will be issued Thursday, May 23.

RECENT RESULTS
Luke Bogdan earned a first-place finish for the second week in a row when the G&G Tour resumed play at Chilliwack Golf Club on Monday.

Bogdan (Ledgeview Golf Club, pictured), who was in a three-way tie for first the previous week at Richmond Country Club, was the solo winner this time around with an impressive 6-under 66. Bogdan finished with seven birdies on his card to capture the one-stroke victory and $500 payday. Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) shot 67 for runner-up honours and $425, while Brad Clapp (Cultus Lake Golf Club) fired a 68 for third and $375. Click here to see full results .

Monday also marked the latest stop on the Kootenay Pro Tour, with Trevor Simkins (Bootleg Gap Golf Course) posting a convincing win on the Springs Course at Radium. Simkins beat the field by five strokes with a 4-under 68 that featured five birdies against a single bogey, taking home $518. Kyle Crawford (Radium Resort) finished with a 73 that was worth $292, while Mel Dies and Scott McClain (Copper Point Golf Club) shared the third-best result among PGA of BC members, each collecting $178 for rounds of 74. The annual Rotary Pro-Am that's part of the Interior PGA Tour was held Tuesday, and Brian McDonald (Fairview Mountain Golf Club) topped a leaderboard filled with some solid scores. The reigning PGA Head Professional Champion of Canada earned a one-stroke victory with his 6-under 66, pocketing $2,500 for the win. Cody Bell (Sunset Ranch Golf & Country Club) picked up the second-place cheque worth $1,700 after his 67, while Ethan Danish (Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy) and Jesse Crowe (Salmon Arm Golf Club) were the two PGA of BC members coming in at 69 for a share of third place and $1,006.25 apiece. CONGRATULATIONS
The Association is pleased to share the news that PGA of BC member Alec Hubert became a father for the first time earlier this month.

Hubert, Executive Professional at Kamloops Golf & Country Club, and partner Kendra welcomed son Nash Ellis Hubert to the world at 7:32 p.m. on May 6. Arriving three weeks prior to his due date to share a birthday with royal baby Archie, Nash weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz.

Members are reminded that Professional Development Program (PDP) points can be earned through volunteerism. Industry volunteer activities can be credited for one (1) PDP point per two hours volunteered, up to a maximum of eight points.

Additional points are available when volunteering for PGA of BC events and initiatives, which are credited with one (1) PDP point per hour to a maximum of 16 points.

Volunteer opportunities will be available at several PGA of BC events throughout the season, including at the upcoming Assistants' & Seniors' Championships presented by Natera Sport on June 6-7 at Seymour Golf & Country Club, where shifts will be available covering duties such as scoring and on-course spotting.
