STANDINGS UPDATE: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PRESENTED BY SUNICE & BOBBY JONES
Heading into the PGA of BC's championship season, the Professional Development Points standings race is shaping up to be a close competition. The Association thanks Sunice & Bobby Jones for their generous support of the Professional Development Program.

Chris Ward (Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club) remains atop the leaderboard for the second month in a row with 56 points. Ward is closely followed by Steve Liddicoat (University Golf Club) who has amassed an 52 impressive points. Rounding out the top-three is Ryan Tofani (Chilliwack Golf Club).

Ward also leads the Assistants' race, with Joel Aitken (Kelowna Golf & Country Club) pacing the rookies. Bradley Gagnon (Capilano Golf & Country Club) sits as rookie runner-up, while Shania Remandaban (Vancouver Golf Club) had a strong month to move up to third.

REGISTER AS A WOMEN'S GOLF WEEK HOST FACILITY BY MAY 24 AND BE ENTERED INTO A DRAW TO WIN $700 FOR WOMEN'S GOLF
Facilities and professionals are reminded to enter the draw for a chance to win $700 to support your women's golf events, tournaments or celebrations during or around Women's Golf Week. We also encourage professionals and facilities to register for International Women's Golf Day.

Women’s Golf Week is an annual initiative running May 30 to June 6, 2023 to engage, empower and support women and girls in golf, leading to a culmination with International Women's Golf Day on June 6.

New this year, Dexim Golfwear and the Association will be awarding bursaries to support Women’s Golf Week celebrations in BC. Four bursaries of $700 will be awarded to recipients, one from each region of the province: the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, the Interior, and the Kootenays & Northern BC. Bursaries will be awarded to facilities and professionals that host women’s golf events, tournaments or celebrations during Women’s Golf Week 2023. Winners will be drawn live on Instagram at 12 p.m. on May 24.

TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS REGISTRATION CLOSES FRIDAY
Professionals are reminded that Friday is the final day to register as a participant for the PGA of BC Tournament of Champions presented by PING Canada. The 2023 Tournament of Champions takes place at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Club in Kelowna on Monday, May 29. Please click here to register today.

The Tournament of Champions is open to two-person teams consisting of a Club Professional and a current club champion or other designated amateur from their facility. The professional must be a Head, Executive or Head Teaching Professional, while the amateur must be a member of the same facility at the time the Tournament of Champions is conducted. If a Professional of the designated category is unable to attend, a Class "A" Professional from the same facility may take their place. Facilities employing only Apprentice Professionals may enter a team consisting of an amateur and an Apprentice Professional.

NOMINATION FORM OPEN FOR HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS
The PGA of Canada Hall of Fame is dedicated to recognizing the extraordinary contribution and accomplishments of our Members to the game of golf in Canada and around the world. Deserving members will be inducted on a regular basis.

A Committee of Past Presidents, Honorary Directors, Members, and representatives of the golf industry is responsible for reviewing nominations and selecting individuals for induction.

Once elected, the nominee is officially inducted at a special ceremony. Virtually housed, the Honoured Member’s portrait and biography are then enshrined in the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame.

Nominations must be received no later than July 1 to be eligible for selection the following year.

REGIONAL TOUR ROUNDUP
The Westland Insurance Interior PGA Tour took on Tower Ranch Golf Club on May 15. Finlay Young (GOLFTEC Kelowna) and Keith Martin (Tower Ranch Golf Club) tied for the victory, shooting 5-under 67s. With scores of 69, Kyle McMurphy (Two Eagles Golf Course & Academy) and Bryce Barker (Vernon Golf & Country Club) were level as runners-up. The tour returns to Shadow Ridge Golf Club on June 5.

The Lower Mainland G&G Tour headed out to Pitt Meadows Golf Club on May 15. Steven Lecuyer (Seymour Creek Golf Centre) pushed through the sweltering heat to secure the win, shooting a 6-under 66. Luke Bogdan (Cheam Mountain Golf Course) and Brady Stead (Ledgeview Golf Club) rounded out the podium. The G&G Tour plays its next tournament at Meadow Gardens Golf Club on June 5.

The Kootenay Pro Tour held their second tournament of the season May 8 at the Cranbrook Golf Club. Kootenay pros tee off June 5 in the next event at the Creston Golf Club.

The Vancouver Island Club Pro Tour held a Pro-Pro 6-6-6 tournament at Olympic View Golf Club May 9. Bear Mountain Golf Club will host the next tournament on June 13.
