TOUR LAB @ NORTHVIEW EARNS REPEAT TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS WIN

The team representing The Tour LAB @ Northview put on a record-breaking performance for the second year in a row Monday to defend its title in the PGA of BC Tournament of Champions presented by
Tee-On Golf Systems Inc.

outlasted the Victoria Golf Club team of
Lindsay Bernakevitch
and
Craig Doell
with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff, after both squads turned in 11-under-par best-ball rounds of 61 on the Ridge Course at Northview Golf & Country Club.
Not only did The Tour LAB become the first PGA of BC facility to win the Tournament of Champions in back-to-back years, the winning score also marked a new record for the event, both in total strokes and score relative to par. Third place belonged to the Capilano Golf & Country Club team of Head Professional

and amateur
Greg Trammell
, who combined for an 8-under 64. Two teams tied for fourth, as Point Grey Golf & Country Club’s entry, (
Dave Zibrik & Kenner Astles
) and Quilchena Golf & Country Club’s team (

) matched one another at 65.

GOLFATHON FOR ALS GETS UNDERWAY NEXT WEEK
|
The 14th annual PGA of BC Golfathon for ALS officially kicks off next week with the first group of Professionals set to participate in the initiative on Monday.
The Golfathon for ALS has raised nearly $1.7 million in support of the ALS Society of BC since its inception, including more than $200,000 last year.

are the first group scheduled to complete their Golfathon for 2019, as they'll try to play as many holes as possible on June 3 in support of the cause. Dozens more will be joining them throughout the rest of June.

PAID WORK OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE DURING PGA of BC EVENTS
|
The PGA of BC administration team is seeking hard-working individuals with knowledge of golf tournament operations to assist with the execution of championships and other events on a short-term basis throughout 2019.
The position of Event Assistant will be a paid work opportunity, with individuals contracted on an as-needed, event-by-event basis. Those working as an Event Assistant will be expected to help with a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Event setup and tear-down
- Live and post-round scoring for applicable tournaments
- Various on-course duties
- Other tasks as assigned by PGA of BC administration team
Please note that some heavy lifting will be required as part of the role. Experience with Impact Tournament Systems scoring software would be considered an asset for stroke-play events. Use of personal mobile devices may be required; all such expenses will be reimbursed by the Association.

REMINDER: JUNE 1 DEADLINE FOR PGA of CANADA APPLICANTS
|
Individuals interested in applying to be a member of the PGA of Canada are reminded that the deadline to register is June 1.
Registrations submitted in 2019 will be considered valid until June 1, 2020, or until the prospective applicant has made the maximum five Playing Ability Test attempts, whichever occurs first. Please note that you must register with the PGA of Canada prior to participating in a Playing Ability Test.

The PGA of BC extends its best wishes to Membership & Events Manager Branden Stewart, who served his final day in the role on Tuesday.
Since joining the administration team in 2018 following several years on the Professional staff at Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, Branden played an important role in member services, preparations for 2019 PGA of BC championship events and much more.
"The Association wishes all the best to Branden as he pursues a new opportunity within the golf industry," said PGA of BC Executive Director Donald Miyazaki. "We would like to thank him for his time working in the PGA of BC office. It's been a pleasure having Branden as part of our administration team."
Branden will retain his membership as a PGA of Canada Class "A" Professional.

Best of luck to the PGA of BC's Nate Ollis (Cordova Bay Golf Course), who will compete at Uplands Golf Club this week for the Bayview Place Cardtronics Open presented by Times Colonist, the second event of the 2019 Mackenzie Tour season.
Ollis will begin his tournament Thursday at 9:30 a.m. off the first tee, and play his second round at 2:30 p.m. Friday with a 10th-hole start. Ollis is part of the only all-Canadian group on course for the first two days, playing alongside James Allenby and Blair Hamilton.
PGA of BC members are reminded that they are eligible for complimentary access for themselves and a guest at all Mackenzie Tour events during the season. Show your PGA of Canada membership card at the front gate to receive two entry tickets.

Jeremy Johnson (Fairmont Hot Springs Resort) topped the leaderboard once again this week in the latest stop on the Kootenay Pro Tour.
Johnson (pictured) claimed the victory in Monday's event at Eagle Ranch Golf Course by carding an even-par 72, earning a three-stroke victory and a $460 payday.

(Bootleg Gap Golf Course) finished alone in second place after a 75, pocketing $356, while
Kenneth Maki
(Fernie Golf & Country Club) secured third spot and $252 with a 76.
