PGA of BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
G&G GOLF COMPANY
|
As G&G Golf Company looks ahead to its 30th anniversary, the entire team is excited to celebrate its roots while showing appreciation for the partnerships it has built along the way. On the heels of one of the most uncertain years in company history, G&G Golf could not be more thankful for the support it received from its partners here in BC and across the country. With the forward momentum of the golf industry came a concerted effort by all of us to enhance both the experience and product offerings for players old and new alike.
G&G Golf Company is proud to announce that it, too, went all-in when it came to investing back into the business of golf. Since November, G&G has hired on 11 new staff members and successfully moved its headquarters to an all-new, 30,000-square-foot space to accommodate the growing needs of its industry partners. G&G prides itself on its people-first mentality, its commitment to best-in-class customer service and its high-quality product offerings that, in turn, help you grow your business.
Although the primary focus of G&G’s new headquarters was for greater capacity, the team had hoped that 2021 would allow them to physically share their new space with all of you. As G&G prepares to celebrate its 30th birthday in October, the company remains hopeful for an opportunity to celebrate the invaluable partnerships that have been made along the way. G&G Golf Company cannot wait to welcome you to the family at the new G&G Headquarters as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. In the meantime, click here for a sneak peek at our new facility. Please remember the invite is always open and we are never more than a phone call or email away should you need to reach us.
G&G Golf Company is a Silver-level Preferred Partner of the Association and co-title sponsor of the PGA of BC Pro-Assistant Championship, set for July 5-6 at Talking Rock Golf Course. Click below to learn more.

McDONALD MAINTAINS LEAD ATOP PDP ORDER OF MERIT
|
Nobody has managed to supplant Brian McDonald as the Professional Development Program (PDP) points leader over the past month, as the Fairview Mountain Golf Club Executive Professional has maintained his standing atop the Order of Merit in the latest monthly update.
McDonald continues to hold down first place with a 48-point total, which is two ahead of the second-ranked Scott Kolb (Victoria Golf Club). Greg Pool (Northview Golf & Country Club) occupies third place with 39 points, while Adam Blair (Talking Rock Golf Course) made a move into the top five, now tied with Cindy Soukoroff (St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino) at 37 points apiece.
Nearly 220 members have logged points in the 2021 PDP race, with all Professionals holding at least 19 points currently sitting inside the Top 100.

EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION OPEN NOW FOR 2021 PGA of BC BUYING SHOW
|
With the 2021 PGA of BC Buying Show set to take place virtually Oct. 13-14, the Association is pleased to invite exhibitors to sign up now to join us for the event and take advantage of early-registration booth pricing.
As British Columbia’s premier golf-merchandise buying show, this event will once again provide a forum for golf-industry suppliers and service providers to establish meaningful connections with PGA of BC Professionals, facilities and other retailers in a one-stop shop setting.
Although we were hopeful to return to our traditional, in-person setting at Richmond Olympic Oval this year, with continued uncertainty around overall public-health circumstances, as well as what sizes and types of gatherings will be permissible by the fall, the Association has opted to host the Buying Show virtually once again. We are advising of our intention to conduct the show virtually at this stage to allow exhibitors ample time to make arrangements for their 2022 selling season accordingly.
A virtual Buying Show was a new experience for all involved, but the 2020 event was extremely well received by attendees and exhibitors alike. With a number of enhancements to the online platform used to conduct the Buying Show, we are confident that this year’s gathering will build upon the successes of our inaugural virtual event.
More details regarding the features and amenities available to exhibitors will be shared in the months leading up to the show, but the PGA of BC is pleased to offer early-registration booth pricing now at a reduced rate.
From now until June 30, interested exhibitors are welcome to reserve a booth at the event for just $250 (plus GST), which represents a savings of more than 80 per cent off the cost of a traditional 10’x10’ booth at an in-person Buying Show. General exhibitor registration will be available until Sept. 30, with a booth price of $350 (plus GST) taking effect as of July 1.

PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- KYLE GERMAN
|
Head Professional, Bald Eagle Golf Club
PGA of Canada member since: 1994
Why did you become a PGA of Canada Professional?
Simple answer... Love of the game. Full disclosure answer... I came home after trying the mini tours, got a warehouse job for a summer, quickly said "this isn't for me" and got a job at a golf course. I had encouragement from my boss to join the PGA and here we are.
Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
The PGA of BC's Executive Director when I joined, Steve Carroll, was someone I looked up to quite a bit as a young Professional, and another member who influenced me greatly (I doubt he even knows this) was/is Michael Mather, General Manager at University Golf Club.
What career path led you to where you are today?
It's been a long, winding and crazy road. Not a lot of straight lines for me. I always wanted to see all aspects of the industry, so I worked at public, private and resort settings. I spent time at established facilities and helped open up a couple new facilities as well. I have been a full-time instructor for about 10 of my years in the industry, I have been an Associate Professional, a Head Professional and a General Manager. I've done it all, and everyday I still learn something!
What is your most cherished golf memory?
Playing in the 2009 RBC Canadian Open at Glen Abbey. As with most of us, playing a PGA Tour event was always a dream. At 36 years old at the time, I had long ago assumed that opportunity would not happen for me. I remember everything about it.
