COMPENSATION & BENEFITS SURVEY NOW ACCEPTING RESPONSES
Members of the PGA of BC are kindly asked to complete this year's Compensation & Benefits survey before next week's deadline.

On a recurring basis, the PGA of Canada solicits information from its members regarding their compensation and benefits received for their duties as a Golf Professional over the previous year. This information is a vital resource in determining industry standards, assisting Golf Professionals in their contract and wage negotiations, while also providing employers with crucial information when determining appropriate compensation levels for open positions and new hires.

New for 2020, the PGA of BC is administering this year's survey to its 700 member Professionals across the province on behalf of the national office. In doing so, we have aimed to create a survey that is streamlined compared to those in past years and collects information that is more relevant and specific to British Columbia.

All members received a link via email on Monday to access the survey. If you did not receive this email in your inbox or other mail folders, please contact Communications & Marketing Manager Eric MacKenzie at [email protected] to be provided with survey access. The estimated time to complete the 20-question survey is less than eight minutes; taking a moment to provide your responses is greatly appreciated.

Please complete the survey no later than Wednesday, Nov. 11. Your responses will be shared with the PGA of BC and PGA of Canada administration teams, with the results to be made available in the months ahead. All submitted information will remain confidential.

Should you have any questions, concerns or additional information you'd like to share, please do not hesitate to contact Eric MacKenzie or PGA of BC Employment Committee Chair Cindy Soukoroff
IDEAS & VOLUNTEERS WELCOMED FOR 2021 EDUCATION EVENTS
Although the golf season has come to a close in many parts of the province, the Association's education events through the winter and early spring are fast approaching.

Through the PGA of BC's Spring Education Seminar and Education Series events, we are committed to providing a forum for members to expand their knowledge on important topics by learning from experts in their field -- in golf operations, instruction, business, management and more.

We encourage members interested in sharing their expertise with their colleagues to put their names forward as an Education Series presenter. Six out of the nine presentations conducted during the 2020 Education Series were made by PGA of BC Professionals, and we strive to have our members involved in educating their fellow Professionals wherever possible. Please feel welcome to submit a proposal to speak on a specified topic or area of knowledge, and to work with the PGA of BC administration team to narrow your focus for a presentation to your peers.

Given the uncertainty around whether our educational gatherings can proceed in their traditional format due to public-health circumstances, we welcome proposals and topic ideas that can be presented both virtually and in person.

If there is a particular topic you'd like to see covered, or a certain speaker whose expertise you feel would be of benefit to our Professionals, suggestions are always welcomed to ensure these educational opportunities are serving you best. Please contact Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington at [email protected] with any pitches or suggestions.
CONSIDER RUNNING FOR POSITION ON PGA of BC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The PGA of BC Board of Directors encourages all qualified members to consider putting their name forward for a board position term that will commence in 2021.

There will be four (4) openings on the board becoming available via election in the new year. The individuals filling those positions will be determined by a membership vote taking place in late January.

Regional quotas will be confirmed closer to the formal voting period, but at least one director elected in 2021 must be a Vancouver Island representative.

All positions are two-year terms. Candidates must be Class "A" Professionals in order to be considered.

A formal call for applications will be released in early January.
APPLICATION PERIOD OPEN FOR PGA of CANADA FOUNDATION BURSARIES
Each year, the PGA of Canada Foundation awards bursaries to assist, encourage and promote the attainment of professional development opportunities.

Bursary applications are now being accepted to help subsidize the cost of any professional-development undertakings you may have completed within the past year.

These bursaries are in the amount of $500 each, with a maximum of 20 awarded nationwide each year. They are available to all members, contingent upon a Golf Professional completing one or more professional-development opportunities in 2020. Last year, six PGA of BC Professionals were awarded bursaries through this initiative.

Please note that members still working towards their Class "A" designation may not apply for a bursary to offset the cost of PGA of Canada Training Academy courses or programs. There are no restrictions for Class "A" members.

Click below to access the application form and learn more about the initiative. Applications must be received by Jan. 29, 2021, with bursaries to be awarded in March.
