SCHEDULE, LOCATIONS FOR 2020 EDUCATION EVENTS NOW AVAILABLE
With the 2020 season quickly approaching, the PGA of BC is reminding members to keep the following dates in mind for Association-administered education events that will take place in the winter and spring.

  • Education Series #1 - Tuesday, Jan. 14 @ Richmond Country Club
  • Spring Education Seminar - Monday, Feb. 10 & Tuesday, Feb. 11 @ Tsawwassen Springs
  • Education Series #2 - Tuesday, March 3 @ Victoria Golf Club
  • Education Series #3 - Tuesday, March 10 @ Gallagher's Canyon Golf & Country Club
  • Education Series #4 - Monday, April 27 @ Fairmont Hot Springs Resort

The speaker lineup and registration links for these events will be made available in the weeks ahead.

We encourage members interested in sharing their expertise with their colleagues to put their names forward as an Education Series presenter. Seven out of the 11 presentations made during the 2019 Education Series were made by PGA of BC Professionals, and we strive to have our members involved in educating their fellow Professionals wherever possible. Please feel welcome to submit a proposal to speak on a specified topic or area of knowledge, and to work with the PGA of BC administration team to narrow your focus for a presentation to your peers.

If there is a particular topic you'd like to see covered, or a certain speaker whose expertise you feel would be of benefit to our Professionals, suggestions are always welcomed to ensure these educational opportunities are serving you best. Please contact Executive Director Donald Miyazaki at  donald@pgabc.org  with any suggestions for speakers or topics.
CONSIDER RUNNING FOR SEAT ON PGA of BC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The PGA of BC Board of Directors encourages all qualified members to consider putting their name forward for a board position term that will commence in 2020.

There will be four (4) openings on the board becoming available via election in the new year. The individuals filling those positions will be determined by a membership vote taking place in late January.

Regional quotas will be confirmed closer to the formal campaign period, but at least one director elected in 2020 must be a Vancouver Island representative.

All positions are two-year terms. Candidates must be Class "A" Professionals in order to be considered.

A formal call for applications will be released in early January.
APPLY NOW FOR PGA of CANADA FOUNDATION BURSARY
Each year, the PGA of Canada Foundation awards bursaries to assist, encourage and promote the attainment of professional development opportunities.

With 2019 coming to an end, it is the perfect time to send in a bursary application for any professional development opportunities you may have completed in the past year.

These bursaries are in the amount of $500 each, with a maximum of 20 awarded nationwide each year. They are available to all members, contingent upon a Golf Professional completing one or more professional development opportunities in 2019.

Please note that members still working towards their Class "A" designation may not apply for a bursary to offset the cost of PGA of Canada Training Academy courses or programs. There are no restrictions for Class "A" members.

Click below to access the application form and learn more about the initiative. Applications must be received by Jan. 24, 2020, with bursaries to be awarded in March.
