DEADLINE APPROACHING FOR APPRENTICES' SUBMISSION OF HOURS WORKED
Apprentice Professionals are reminded of their requirement to submit their 2022 employment hours to the PGA of Canada by the Dec. 1 deadline.

Apprentice Professionals must log a minimum of 3,000 hours worked in the golf industry during their time in the PGA of Canada Training Academy in order to obtain Class "A" status, as well as an annual minimum of 400 hours. Those who do not make their submission prior to the deadline will automatically have their membership status changed to Inactive.

All Apprentices were contacted by the national office recently via email with a link to the hours submission portal contained in the message. If you did not receive this information in your inbox, please ensure your email address on file with the PGA of Canada is up to date.

As implemented in 2021, please note that all employment-hours submissions now must be verified by an employer. Individuals working in multiple golf-industry positions must have their hours verified by each unique employer.

Should you have any questions regarding submission of hours, please contact PGA of Canada Education & Membership Coordinator Luis Paredes at luis@pgaofcanada.com.
PAY OUTSTANDING DUES BY DEC. 31 TO AVOID SUSPENSION
Professionals who have yet to pay their PGA of Canada membership dues for 2023 are reminded that payments must be completed by Dec. 31 to avoid being placed in the suspended category.

Members who have not paid their dues and $125 late fee before Jan. 1 will have their membership suspended and will be subject to an additional reinstatement fee of up to $450, plus tax, as well as a background check.

Please contact Darcy Kral, PGA of Canada Managing Director of Membership & Support Services, at darcy@pgaofcanada.com with any inquiries related to membership dues and payments.

As a reminder, PGA of Canada members have until April 1 to request a full refund of dues in the event a change of category or resignation is required. Please note that all late fees are non-refundable.

The goal of the application process is to identify PGA of Canada coaches who would benefit from the program and also contribute meaningfully to the cohort's development as a group through sharing their experiences.

Applications are now open until Monday, December 5th at 8:00pm PST. Full details can be found at the link below. For additional information, please contact Emily Phoenix at ephoenix@golfcanada.ca.

What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?
Without question the most rewarding part of being a PGA member is the people. Clients, members, colleagues, mentors, and peers. I find it awesome to be part of a community where you always have at least one in thing common with everybody each and everyday. The friends and connections I’ve made over the years are very precious to me.

Which significant accomplishments are you most proud of?
I’m not so sure I have a single significant accomplishment. The thing I take my greatest pride in is the day-to-day grind. We all go through it. I’ve always thought PGA professionals are like the silent unsung heroes of the golf industry. We’re all out there simply helping people enjoy the game and our facilities more each day. If I had to speak to one of the coolest things about my career. It would be having my name inscribed on a trophy along side Pat Fletcher & Gordie Howe.

If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?
Keep your golf came in shape and keep competing. If your game is good, you garner more respect from your members/clients and from within the industry. It can help open doors, present opportunities, and expand your connections. I also believe a good golf game helps to keep the passion & enjoyment for your job at a high level.

What is an interesting fact about yourself that doesn't involve golf?
Some already know this but my passion for skiing is equal to my passion for golf. It is my golf career in Canada which has provided the time & opportunity for me to develop this skiing passion. So even outside of golf, my career has influenced many of my great life experiences.
