PGA OF BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

SUPERSPEED GOLF

Founded in 2014, SuperSpeed Golf created the first widely accepted golf training system focused solely on speed. Before SuperSpeed, most players had a regular fitness routine and swing mechanics program. Now, these players also dedicate a significant amount of time specifically to speed training on a regular basis. This has brought excitement back to working on the game and hope to many players for whom distance was a limiting factor in getting joy from playing golf.

Since inception, SuperSpeed Golf has been dedicated to detailed research and development of all training products and training programs. From 3D kinematic analysis, cutting edge Force Plate data, and most recently even specific on course performance results. SuperSpeed has made knowing exactly how their training system will affect a golfer a cornerstone of their philosophy.

SuperSpeed Golf has also spent a great deal of time and effort in educating both golf professionals and the average golfer about the benefits of speed training. Members of the SuperSpeed team have been regularly featured as speakers at PGA of Canada events. Their dedication to not only creating the most effective speed training tools on the market, but also helping PGA Professionals find creative ways to integrate these training programs into their curriculums has truly set SuperSpeed apart.

STEVEN LECUYER WINS THE 2023 PGA OF BC KAL TIRE ORDER OF MERIT

The PGA of BC and Kal Tire are proud to announce Seymour Creek Golf Centre’s Steven Lecuyer as the 2023 Kal Tire Order of Merit champion.

Lecuyer earned this honour through his incredible play this season in PGA of BC tournaments and on the G&G Tour, an affiliated regional tour for Lower Mainland PGA professionals. Lecuyer overcame impressive challenges from other top competitors, including runner-up and 2021 Order of Merit champion Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course) and 2022 champion Zach Olson (Chilliwack Golf Club) who rounded out the top three.

With Lecuyer’s win, he takes home $1,000 and a $500 Kal Tire gift card. The top ten competitors will be awarded from a purse of $5,000, while the 2nd- to 5th place finishers also won $200 Kal Tire gift cards. The Association extends our gratitude and appreciation to Kal Tire for their generous support of the Order of Merit program and its competitors.

Golf Canada is pleased to announce the creation of the Canadian Collegiate Invitational tournament that will take place at Öviinbyrd Golf Club in MacTier, Ont. from September 15-17, 2024.

The tournament will be conducted by Golf Canada and co-hosted by Kent State University and Penn State University who are both led by Canadian head coaches, Jon Mills (Kent State) and Mark Leon (Penn State). The tournament will feature NCAA Division I men’s golf teams with prominent Canadian ties along with the team champions of the 2024 Canadian University/College Championship.

Joining the co-hosts from Kent State and Penn State will be Miami University (Ohio), University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Missouri, University of Notre Dame, Rutgers University, and Washington State University. Also competing will be the 2024 Canadian University/College Men’s Team champions crowned next spring at Idylwylde Golf & Country Club in Sudbury, Ont.

The inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational marks the first time that an NCAA Division I men’s golf tournament will be played in Canada.

The inaugural championship will be contested over 54 holes in two days, with 36 holes played in the opening round and 18 holes in the final round. The team component will feature five members per team with the top four scores for the day counting to the overall team score. The individual competition will be stroke-play with the winner receiving an exemption into the 2025 RBC Canadian Open and the top-five receiving exemptions into the 2025 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship, presented by BDO.

Consideration is on-going for the addition of a women’s NCAA Division I tournament in parallel with additional opportunities to expand the women’s competitive golf schedule in Canada. The full 2024 Amateur Championship schedule including the Team Canada – NextGen Girls selection camp tournament will be announced in the new year.
