PGA OF BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

2UNDR

The vision of 2UNDR was simple. Inspired by the kangaroo pouch, 2UNDR set out to create a high-performance men’s athletic underwear with the versatility of everyday use. Using the most advanced construction techniques and materials, 2UNDR separates your equipment from your body to reduce unwanted skin-on-skin contact. With more support than a standard brief and improved airflow to keep you cool, 2UNDR products provide the best fit, comfort and style a man could ever need.

2UNDR was designed in Vancouver but is worn everywhere. Brand ambassadors include PGA Tour stars Rickie Fowler and Matt Every, plus many other major and action-sport athletes throughout North America.

Part of the Rampion Enterprises Ltd. brand family, 2UNDR is a Bronze-level Preferred Partner of the Association and presenting sponsor of the PGA of BC’s Golf Shop of the Year Award.

QUESTIONNAIRE: "HOW TO IMPROVE THE LIVES AND IMAGE OF A PGA OF CANADA PROFESSIONAL IN THESE MODERN TIMES"

Peter Boyce, Life Professional, has been a PGA of Canada professional since 1965. He is working towards Master Professional status by completing his thesis. The subject is "How to improve the lives and image of a PGA of Canada Professional in these modern times."

If you are interested in completing the questionnaire, click here. Please email your answers to peter@peterboycegolf.com.

Message from Peter:

Having been a member of the PGA of Canada since 1965 (when it was known as the Canadian Professional Golfers Association) I have loved every minute and have been proud to be a member. My hopes are that our young professionals feel the same and will be able to lead successful and happy lives. Yes, things have changed but the game will continually need our input and guidance. I have been fortunate to enjoy the profession, travel to 18 different countries to play the game (sometimes not too well 😊) and I sincerely hope that the younger generation has the same opportunity.

If you would like your opinion not to be shared, please let Peter know and it will be labelled as “anonymous”

COLLEGE GOLF CORNER

With regional pro tours having wrapped up their seasons, the PGA of BC would like to highlight the latest competition results from BC university and college golf teams. Welcome to the College Golf Corner!

UBC Thunderbirds

The UBC Men's Golf Team won the Arizona Christian University Firestorm Fall Invitational in a come-from-behind victory on November 6-7. The Thunderbirds outlasted Ottawa University (AZ) by three strokes. Aidan Schumer was the low UBC individual, finishing third in the individual standings after shooting 72-71-72.

The UBC Women's team competed against Division One NCAA schools in the University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Invitational on October 23-25. The Thunderbirds finished 12th, topping several Division One programs. Bo Brown shot 72-76-75 to pace the team. The UBC Women's team remains undefeated in Cascades Conference play.

Simon Fraser University Red Leafs

The SFU Women's team competed in the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in Wailakoa, Hawaii on October 27-28. The Red Leafs earned a seventh place finish, led by freshman Dana Smith's great play. Smith posted rounds of 70-75 to finish 11th on the individual leaderboard.

The Men's Red Leafs earned an eighth place finish at the Otter Invitational in Seaside, California on October 16-17. Redshirt freshman Denby Carswell led the team, shooting an impressive 75-70-70.

UVic Vikes

The UVic Vikes Women's team competed in the Canada West Championships at Abbotsford's Ledgeview Golf Club on October 2-3, ultimately earning a fourth place finish. Cindy Koira led the way for the Vikes with rounds of 86 and 75. The team also competed in the Western Washington University Fall Invitational on October 9-10 at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club. Koira again paced the team, posting scores of 79 and 77.

The Men's Vikes competed in the Canada West Championships, also finishing in fourth place. Zach Ryujin played incredible, shooting 73 and 67 over the two-day tournament, tying for first place individually. He was defeated in an individual playoff to finish as silver medallist.

UBC Okanagan Heat

The UBCO Men's team placed second at the Canada West Championships at Ledgeview Golf Club on October 2-3. The Heat were powered by Canada West individual champion Justin Towill, who posted scores of 69 and 71 en route to earning a spot in the individual playoff. Towill was able to make a clinching birdie on the third playoff hole to secure the individual title.

The Heat Women matched the men with a silver medal of their own at the Canada West Championships. Freshman Julia Alexander-Carew shot 75-68 to earn a fifth-place finish on the individual leaderboard. The team then traveled to Bellingham Golf & Country Club for the Western Washington University Fall Invitational where they won the tournament by two strokes over the host school. Emily Cornwall shot 71-72 to secure the individual title and help the Heat sweep both team and individual honours.

University of the Fraser Valley Cascades

The Cascades Women's team earned a third place finish at the Canada West Championships, which they hosted at Ledgeview Host Club. Morgan Best and Lucy Park paced the Cascades, with each firing impressive rounds to share seventh place.

The Men's Cascades also finished in third place at the Canada West Championships. The team was led by Ben Whiton, who shot six-over-par across two round en route to a sixth place finish on the individual leaderboard.

South of the border, Surrey's Lauren Kim has put forth a dominant start to her University of Texas career. The 2023 Canadian women's amateur golf champion is among the top performers in all of Division One women's golf this season. In her third career NCAA tournament, the two-time US Women's Open competitor and Longhorn freshman topped the individual leaderboard at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup with a win coming after a four-hole playoff. Kim was recently named a Rolex Junior All-American by the American Junior Golf Association, and has moved up to 33rd in the World Amateur Golf Ranking.

BC university and college golf teams have entered their winter breaks, and will take a hiatus before returning to competition in early 2024. We look forward to continue our updates upon the return of competitive play.
