MUSSANI WINS WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP PRESENTED BY DEXIM GOLFWEAR
Salimah Mussani put together a pair of impressive rounds Tuesday and Wednesday at Point Grey Golf & Country Club to become a two-time winner of the PGA of BC Women’s Championship presented by  Dexim Golfwear .

Building off 38 first-round par-points in the tournament’s stableford-scoring format, the Riverway Golf Course Professional made four birdies against three bogeys in Wednesday’s final round to finish with 75 total points, two clear of the field.

Mussani, who last claimed the Women’s Championship crown in 2014, took home the top prize of $1,000 for the victory.  Christine Wong  (Langara College) was the runner-up with 73 points after her tournament-best round of 39 points Wednesday, while three-time champion  Jennifer Greggain  (Chilliwack Golf Club) finished third with 68 points. Wong and Greggain earned $700 and $550 for their results, respectively.

This year's tournament was held in conjunction with the Point Grey Ladies Pro-Am for the second year in a row, and all competitors raved about the conditions of the golf course over both rounds of play. A big thank you to Head Professional Dave Zibrik and the entire team at Point Grey for their tremendous hospitality and assistance in putting on a great event.
HOURIGAN RETAINS LEAD IN PDP ORDER of MERIT
Cailean Hourigan (Bear Mountain Resort Community) continues to hold the lead in the PGA of BC Professional Development Program (PDP) Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones as of this month's update to the standings.

Hourigan has amassed 74 points this season, giving him a three-point edge over current second-place Professional Jennifer Greggain (Chilliwack Golf Club). Gordon Mink (Hi-Knoll Golf Centre) holds down third position with 66 points, while Colin Lavers (Seymour Golf & Country Club) holds 64 points. Jeff Wiggins (Mountain View Golf Club) rounds out the top five with 59 points.

The top-10 finishers in the Order of Merit will earn a share of a cash purse as a bonus bursary for their efforts this season, and the race for the top 10 is tight with just two months left to accumulate points. Those currently tied for sixth and those tied for 19th in the Order of Merit are separated by just 10 points.

COMPLETE UPDATED PGA of CANADA COMPENSATION & BENEFITS SURVEY
All members are encouraged to complete the PGA of Canada's 2019 Compensation and Benefits Survey, which has undergone an update for this year.

Information gained from the Compensation and Benefits Survey responses can be used by members and apprentice professionals to negotiate salary and benefits packages during upcoming contract negotiations. Hiring managers will also be able to use the survey to attract top talent to a facility.

Not only will the survey be much more streamlined compared to past editions, the overall look and feel will be updated as well.

As an added benefit to complete the survey, PGA of Canada members will have a chance to win a $500 gift certificate that can be used towards any PGA of Canada National or Zone expense (such as dues, education seminars, tournaments, etc.).
 
The Compensation and Benefits survey begins Sept. 24 and runs through the end of October. Results will be available in December of this year. Click below to access the survey.
RECENT RESULTS
The Vancouver Island Club Pro Tour Championship ended in a tie over two days of play this week at Bear Mountain Resort Community and Royal Colwood Golf Club.

Mark Bicknell (Victoria Golf Club, pictured) and Isaac Weintraub (Salt Spring Island Golf & Country Club) shared the title after both finished the 36-hole event at 1-under-par. Each player collected $575 for their results. Newcomer Max Cohen (Olympic View Golf Club) finished third at 2-over, earning $465.

The season wrapped up with Brad Liptrot (Olympic View Golf Club) atop the tour's Order of Merit, as he finished just ahead of runner-up Terrance Drader (Ardmore Golf Course) and third-place finisher Weintraub.
CONGRATULATIONS
Less than a week after capturing the 2019 Srixon/Cleveland Golf/XXIO PGA of BC Club Professional Championship presented by Oakcreek Golf & Turf, Shadow Ridge Golf Club Head Professional Mark Kitts had even more reason to celebrate.

Kitts and wife Andrea welcomed their second daughter on Monday morning. Mia Rae Kitts arrived at 7:37 a.m. on Sept. 30. She is a younger sister to Makena, who recently celebrated her second birthday.
