McDONALD LEADS IN LAST PDP UPDATE PRIOR TO FINAL TABULATION
Brian McDonald continues to hold the pole position in the PGA of BC Professional Development Program (PDP) Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones with just one month left before final tabulations are calculated for 2021.

McDonald's participation in this month's Buying Show and this week's PGA Head Professional Championship of Canada helped the Fairview Mountain Golf Club Executive Professional reach 106 points on the year to maintain his edge atop the standings.

Dennis Bradley (Copper Point Golf Club), recently named this year's recipient of the Davie Black Professional Development Award, jumped to 104 points and holds down second place. Greg Pool (Northview Golf & Country Club) and Adam Blair (Talking Rock Golf Course) moved up to 95 points to sit in a tie for third. Nathan Grieve (Talking Rock Golf Course, 90 points), last year's Order of Merit winner, rounds out the top five.

Those finishing among the top 10 on the Order of Merit receive a share of a bursary purse valued at approximately $5,000. The current top-10 cutoff is 75 points, while those holding at least 34 points are sitting in a Top 100 position as of this update.

The 2021 PDP race and submission window both officially close on Nov. 30. Any eligible activities or undertakings from Dec. 1, 2020 until the deadline will be considered. Please click below to view the updated standings, make a requisition for points or view all other PDP information. Members are reminded that all requisitions require supporting documentation to be sent to pdp@pgabc.org to be considered.

The final Order of Merit standings and the announcement of our Top 100 Golf Professionals of 2021 will be released in early January.

All members are encouraged to review the points they've been credited with to ensure their totals are accurate. Please contact Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington at doug@pgabc.org if you feel a discrepancy exists in your total or for a more detailed breakdown of points awarded.
FINAL REMINDER: PGA of CANADA DUES DEADLINE
Members are reminded of the Nov. 1 deadline to complete payment of 2022 PGA of Canada membership dues.

All members whose dues have not been received in full by Nov. 1, or who have not set up a payment plan in advance, will be subject to late-payment fees. Those paying their dues in full by Nov. 1 will be eligible to win one of three PGA of Canada gift cards -- one valued at $1,000 and two worth $750 -- that can be redeemed for any PGA of Canada or Zone service, including tournament registrations, education and professional-development undertakings or future membership dues.

Late payments submitted by Jan. 1 will include a $125 penalty. Those who have not completed payment by Jan. 1 will be placed in the suspended category and will be subject to a reinstatement fee of $450 plus tax.

As well, all Professionals are reminded that dues notices are now delivered online. Click here to access your invoice; PGA of Canada website login is required. Click below for complete details on 2022 dues payment methods.

Those unsure of their plans for 2022 are reminded that a full refund of dues can be obtained if resigning from the Association by April 1, while pro-rated refunds are available between April 2 and June 30. Any late-payment fees are non-refundable.
TADEY IN TOP 10 AT PGA HEAD PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP OF CANADA
Rob Tadey (Fairview Mountain Golf Club, pictured) was the PGA of BC's top performer in Wednesday's opening round of the weather-shortened PGA Head Professional Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf.

With play wiped out Tuesday at Ontario's Lookout Point Country Club due to rain, the championship will now be decided over 36 holes. Tadey carded an even-par 72 on Wednesday to sit in a tie for ninth, three shots off the lead held by Ontario's Nick Kenney with 18 holes left to go.

Both past champions of this event, Brian McDonald (Fairview Mountain Golf Club) and Kyle German (Bald Eagle Golf Club) each fired 74s to leave them in a tie for 17th place. Dave Zibrik (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) is also lurking among the top 25 after a 3-over 75.

In the InterZone team competition, the PGA of BC squad featuring German, Zibrik, Mark Kitts (Shadow Ridge Golf Club) and Rob Anderson (Kelowna Golf & Country Club) ranks fifth at 11-over. The PGA of Ontario's entry leads the competition at even par. The top three teams at the conclusion of the final round will earn a share of a bonus purse.

With the tournament shortened by a round, there will be no cut to the field and all competitors will play in Thursday's final round. Click below to follow along with results and view all other event details.
VOLUNTEERS & IDEAS WELCOMED FOR 2022 EDUCATION EVENTS
Although the golf season has come to a close in many parts of the province, the Association's education events through the winter and early spring are fast approaching.

Through the PGA of BC's Spring Education Seminar and Education Series events, we are committed to providing a forum for members to expand their knowledge on important topics by learning from experts in their field -- in golf operations, instruction, business, leadership, management and more.

We encourage members interested in sharing their expertise with their colleagues to put their names forward as an Education Series presenter. Nine PGA of BC Professionals were among the featured experts during our 2021 Education Series, while six members were speakers during our three in-person events of the previous year's series -- pictured here is Clay Stothers (The Okanagan Golf Club) conducting a presentation at Gallagher's Canyon Golf Club in March 2020. We strive to have our members involved in educating their fellow Professionals wherever possible. Please feel welcome to submit a proposal to speak on a specified topic or area of knowledge, and to work with the PGA of BC administration team to narrow your focus for a presentation to your peers.

As the administration team and Education Committee determines formats for 2022 programming, we welcome proposals and topic ideas that can be presented both virtually and in person.

If there is a particular topic you'd like to see covered, or a certain speaker whose expertise you feel would be of benefit to our Professionals, suggestions are always welcomed to ensure these educational opportunities are serving you best. Please contact Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington at doug@pgabc.org with any pitches or suggestions.
LAST CHANCE TO COMPLETE NATIONAL COMPENSATION & BENEFITS SURVEY
The PGA of Canada is sponsoring a confidential national compensation and benefits survey to provide members with a better sense of competitive pay rates and incentives in each region and zone. Members are reminded of Saturday's deadline to submit their responses.

It is more important than ever that every member participates in this survey. This year's information will be used to establish compensation and benefit benchmarks which will be used to educate owners and employers in Canada on appropriate compensation levels and benefits as well as information to arm, you, our members when negotiating or renegotiating your employment agreement to know what you should be paid and what you are worth in any Golf Professional position as a valuable PGA of Canada member. The ultimate goal is to start driving compensation standards in the Canadian golf industry moving forward.

From this survey, no one at the PGA of Canada -- including the national/zone office staffs or other members -- will know your salary or other personal information. This year's survey will be facilitated by a third-party HR firm that specializes in compensation and benefits surveys and adheres to strict Canadian privacy standards.

Please complete the survey prior to the Oct. 31 deadline. Click below to access the survey and find more information; PGA of Canada website login is required.
