PGA of CANADA DUES PAYMENT DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 1st
Members are reminded that PGA of Canada 2020 dues must be paid by Nov. 1 in order to avoid late fees, and that those making on-time payments can be entered into a draw for a Masters Prize Package.

A late fee of $125 per month will apply to any payments made after Nov. 1 but before the end of the calendar year. Those who have not paid their dues by Jan. 1, 2020, will have their membership suspended and be subject to a $450 reinstatement fee, plus tax, and a mandatory background check.

Members who pay by Nov. 1 by cash, cheque or online banking will receive a $17.50 discount on their dues and be entered into the draw for the Masters Prize Package, which includes two one-day tickets to the 2020 Masters Tournament and a $1,000 prepaid card for travel. Dues can also be paid by credit card at pgaofcanada.com , but members using that method will not be eligible for the discount or receive a contest entry.

Please note that dues invoices are no longer issued by regular mail; please log into your PGA of Canada profile online to access yours.

As per Association bylaws, members are permitted to obtain a full refund of dues if resigning their membership by April 1, 2020. For that reason, members who remain uncertain regarding their status in the industry for the coming year are encouraged to pay their dues on time while determining their 2020 employment.

Please direct any questions you may have about dues payments to Darcy Kral, PGA of Canada Managing Director of Membership & Support Services, at [email protected] .
MINK OVERTAKES LEAD IN PDP ORDER OF MERIT RACE
The PGA of BC's 2019 Buying Show and Awards Celebration resulted in some significant movement for many members on the Professional Development Program Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones , including a new leader atop the standings.

After once again putting in many volunteer hours at the aforementioned events and being named the recipient of this year's Dunc Sutherland Distinguished Service Award, Gordon Mink (Hi-Knoll Golf Centre) has overtaken first place on the Order of Merit with 96 points. He is followed closely by Cailean Hourigan (Bear Mountain Resort Community), who now sits second with 95 points.

Third place belongs to Adam Blair (Talking Rock Golf Course), who's reached 87 points for the year. Colin Lavers (Seymour Golf & Country Club) is just one point behind Blair in fourth spot, while Jeff Wiggins (Mountain View Golf Club) rounds out the top five with 84 points.

As of this update, 73 points is the cutoff to rank inside the top 10, while Professionals holding 36 points or more are currently inside the Top 100.

This will be the last update to the PDP standings before the final totals, as well as our Top 100 Golf Professionals of 2019, are revealed in January.

Members are reminded that all requisitions for PDP points to be considered for 2019 must be made by Nov. 30. Requisitions must be accompanied by supporting documents sent by email to [email protected] , which also must be received no later than Nov. 30. Points earned for participation in the Head Professional Championship of Canada, the PGA of Canada's Tee Talks Live taking place in Halifax next month, and for receipt of any national awards, will be included in the final tabulation.

VOLUNTEERS AND IDEAS WELCOMED FOR EDUCATION EVENTS
Although the golf season has come to a close in many parts of the province, the Association's education events through the winter and early spring are fast approaching.

By way of the PGA of BC's Spring Education Seminar and Education Series events, we are committed to providing a forum for members to expand their knowledge on important topics by learning from experts in their field -- in golf operations, instruction, business, management and more.

We encourage members interested in sharing their expertise with their colleagues to put their names forward as an Education Series presenter. Seven out of the 11 presentations made during the 2019 Education Series were made by PGA of BC Professionals, and we strive to have our members involved in educating their fellow Professionals wherever possible. Please feel welcome to submit a proposal to speak on a specified topic or area of knowledge, and to work with the PGA of BC administration team to narrow your focus for a presentation to your peers.

If there is a particular topic you'd like to see covered, or a certain speaker whose expertise you feel would be of benefit to our Professionals, suggestions are always welcomed to ensure these educational opportunities are serving you best. Please contact Executive Director Donald Miyazaki at  [email protected]  with any suggestions for speakers or topics.
WONG HELPS CANADA TO 2nd PLACE AT WOMEN'S PGA CUP
PGA of BC Professional Christine Wong (Langara College) was a major factor in Canada's second-place finish at the inaugural Women's PGA Cup held last week at the OMNI Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas.

In the 54-hole event that featured five-player teams of Golf Professionals from the PGAs of Canada, America, Sweden, Australia and Great Britain & Ireland, Canada finished four strokes back of the winning U.S. team. Each squad counted its three best individual scores towards the team total for each round, and Wong's score was counted for Canada on all three days. That included under-par rounds of 71 on the opening day and a 70 in the final round that were Canada's best individual scores on those days.

Canada trailed the Americans by 10 shots heading into the final round and made up much of the deficit before settling for runner-up honours. Congratulations to Christine and her PGA of Canada teammates for their solid performance in the historic event. Click below for full final results.
