PGA of BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT
ARBOR MEMORIAL
For nearly 75 years, Arbor Memorial has provided service and support to Canadian families with respect, compassion and empathy in the commemoration of loved ones. Its 10 British Columbia locations in the Lower Mainland and on Vancouver Island provide professional and ethical guidance in remembering, honouring and celebrating the lives of family members and friends who have passed.

Arbor Memorial offers all PGA of BC Professionals access to the Arbor Alliance program, which provides preferred pricing on memorial services and resources offered at all Arbor Memorial locations in British Columbia. By producing their PGA of Canada membership card, Golf Professionals receive five per cent off the cost of arrangements at the time of need, or 10 per cent off the costs of pre-planned arrangements. As well, PGA of BC Professionals are invited to extend the benefits of the Arbor Alliance program to members and patrons of their respective facilities. Contact Trevor Tidridge to learn more about how to enroll your facility as an Arbor Alliance partner.

A Silver-level Preferred Partner of the Association, Arbor Memorial is a co-presenting sponsor of the PGA of BC Assistants’ & Seniors’ Championships. Click below to learn more.

PGA of BC BUYING SHOW RUNS NEXT WEEK, WATCH EMAIL FOR INFO
Members are reminded of the invitation to join us next week for the 2021 PGA of BC Buying Show, which will be conducted virtually on Oct. 13-14.

The Buying Show has traditionally represented the largest annual gathering of PGA of BC Professionals. Although we wish it were possible to convene for an in-person show, we are pleased to continue to have a forum for members to interact online while connecting with our many participating exhibitors offering products and services for the 2022 season. The event platform has undergone some enhancements since last year's event and we look forward to a productive and successful event for all involved.

Attendance will once again be complementary for all PGA of BC members, but as the Buying Show remains a private event, all information on accessing the event will be delivered to members by email. Please watch for this information to arrive in your inbox on Thursday.

In addition to the opportunity to meet with our exhibitors, the event will include several education and professional-development sessions for attendees, as well as offering PDP points for those who attend and opportunities to win prizes based upon activity within the show over the course of the two days.

Please direct any inquiries regarding the event to Communications & Marketing Manager Eric MacKenzie at eric@pgabc.org.
McDONALD BACK ON TOP IN LATEST UPDATE TO PDP STANDINGS
Brian McDonald (Fairview Mountain Golf Club) has returned to the top of the Professional Development Program (PDP) Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones after ceding the lead earlier this summer.

McDonald, who sat atop in the standings for the first half of the year but had slipped to second in recent months, shot back into the pole position by earning points through volunteerism and his participation in the PGA of BC Club Professional Championship and Interior PGA Tour events. He now holds 86 points for the year.

Following close behind is last month's leader, Dennis Bradley (Copper Point Golf Club), whose 82 points put him solidly in second place. Greg Pool (Northview Golf & Country Club) remained in third spot while upping his total to 75 points. A deadlock in fourth position at 68 points between Talking Rock Golf Course's Adam Blair and Nathan Grieve rounds out the top five.

Click below to access the updated standings, make a submission or learn more about the PDP. Members are reminded that all submissions require supporting documentation to be sent to pdp@pgabc.org in order to be considered.

There are several upcoming opportunities for members to increase their point totals before the PDP Order of Merit race officially closes at the end of November, including through attendance at next week's PGA of BC Buying Show and the education sessions that will be featured as part of the event. All points allocated for this year's PGA of BC Awards Program and Association committee volunteerism will be included in next month's update to the standings.
KEVIN STINSON CAPTURES 2021 PGA of BC ORDER OF MERIT CROWN
The 2021 PGA of BC Order of Merit race came down to the last week of the season, but Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course) hung onto his lead atop the standings by a slim margin.

Stinson's T3 finish at the G&G Tour Championship in the Sea to Sky Corridor last week helped him end the year on 89.33 points to edge 2021 PGA of BC Champion Jake Scarrow (Chilliwack Golf Club, 86.66 points) for the season-long title.

PGA of BC Championship runner-up Nate Ollis (Cordova Bay Golf Course, 79.50) ended the year ranked third in the standings, while Dave Zibrik (Point Grey Golf & Country Club, 75.50) vaulted to fourth after finishing T2 at the Club Professional Championship and winning the G&G Tour Championship over the final two weeks. Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre, 58.70), who topped the Order of Merit when it was last conducted during the 2019 season, rounded out the top five.

A total of 240 member Professionals earned points toward the Order of Merit this season by competing in PGA of BC championship tournaments or regional-tour events. Click below to view complete 2021 standings.
BLACK MOUNTAIN GC TEAM SECOND AT RBC PGA SCRAMBLE FINAL
Black Mountain Golf Club's entry at the RBC PGA Scramble of Canada National Final led by Professional Jeff Wills came up just short of bringing another title in the event back to British Columbia.

Wills (pictured far left) and amateur team members Kristopher Childe, Mike Romer, Cam McMillan and Jason Lanki finished the three-round final at Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs in second place with a score of -68.1, which was 1.2 strokes behind the winning squad from Ontario's Whitetail Golf Club.

The two other BC teams in the field -- both representing Langara Golf Course -- placed among the top 10. One team featuring Langara Professional Mason Lafrance wound up fourth at -66.9 after holding the second-round lead, while the other led by Dominik Roberts (Whistler Golf Club) finished 10th with a score of -62.3.

CONGRATULATIONS
The PGA of BC is pleased to share that Clark MacPherson (Point Grey Golf & Country Club) and wife Jenessa recently celebrated the birth of their first child, a baby boy born late last month.

Walker John MacPherson arrived at 5:49 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 at BC Women's Hospital, measuring in at 7 lbs., 7 oz. and 51 cm.

Clark and Jenessa extend their thanks to all who have sent messages of support and note that both mom and baby are doing well. Clark added that Walker has already mastered the interlock grip. Please join us in congratulating the MacPherson family!
The Association is also sending its well wishes to Austin Bosquet (Hillview Golf Course) and partner Hayley, who recently became engaged.

Austin and Hayley have been together for 2 1/2 years and together have a Siberian Husky fur baby named Luca. To pop the question, Austin set up a photo shoot in the mountains. When the photographer asked Hayley to walk with her back to the camera, she turned back around to find Austin down on one knee.

The PGA of BC extends its congratulations to the happy couple!

FACT OF THE WEEK
Thinking of hiring a PGA of BC Professional for the 2022 season? Statistics have proven that autumn is the most desirable time to post open positions at your facility.

Knowing this, the PGA of BC will once again feature a Careers Board at the upcoming Buying Show. Although this year's show will be held in a virtual format, the Association will continue to post open positions within the PGA of BC's booth. As well, with no E-News issue published during the week of the event, the Buying Show is the most effective avenue to promote your open position to fellow PGA of BC Professionals in the days ahead.

Many great success stories have started with positions advertised and interviews being conducted at the Buying Show. Should you wish to ensure your opening is featured, please send your posting to Membership & Events Manager Doug Titterington by Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. PT.

Please ensure any submissions adhere to our Career Posting Guidelines.
