REGIONAL RECIPIENTS NAMED FOR 2020 PGA of BC AWARDS
Earlier today, the PGA of BC proudly announced the Regional Recipients in 11 categories of the Association's 2020 Awards Program.

Those acknowledged today were determined through an open nomination process and by regional committees comprised of Class "A" Professionals over the past several weeks. Each of the individuals and facilities recognized regionally are now finalists for their respective Provincial Awards.

Click below to view the full list of Regional Award Recipients.

Later this month, PGA of BC members will have an opportunity to vote on their preferred candidates in each category. Voting results will not directly determine the recipient of Provincial Awards, but will help to inform the Final Selection Committee -- comprised of past PGA of BC Award Recipients -- in arriving at its decisions.

Congratulations to all of this year's finalists. We look forward to honouring all Regional Recipients and presenting this year's Provincial Awards during the PGA of BC Awards Celebration presented by Replay Golf Supplies & Tribal, taking place Oct. 14 via online broadcast. Watch for more details on this event in the weeks ahead.

PGA of CANADA ANNOUNCES CHAMPIONSHIP CANCELLATION
The PGA Championship of Canada presented by TaylorMade & adidas Golf will not be contested in 2020, the PGA of Canada announced last week, due to continued health concerns and travel restrictions related to COVID-19.

The championship was originally slated for early July at Edmonton's Royal Mayfair Golf Club but initially postponed due to the above circumstances.

"This decision has been made with the health and safety of players, volunteers and staff in mind," PGA of Canada President Teejay Alderdice said in a release announcing the cancellation. "We were cautiously optimistic in the spring that conditions might improve to a point where we could conduct the championship safely and at a level players expect. Ultimately, ongoing travel restrictions and risks associated with bringing a national field together during COVID-19 influenced the cancellation of the event."

Zone Championship winners from both 2019 and 2020 will earn exemptions into the 2021 PGA Championship of Canada as a result of the cancellation.

Click below for more details on the cancellation. A further announcement regarding the status of the PGA Assistants' and Head Professional Championships are anticipated in the near future.
