LAST CALL FOR PGA of BC BUYING SHOW EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION
Prospective exhibitors for the 2019 PGA of BC Buying Show are reminded of this week's deadline to register for the event, which returns to Richmond Olympic Oval on Oct. 16-17.

The show is the biggest of its kind in British Columbia and represents the largest annual gathering of PGA of BC Professionals. More than 150 golf facilities were represented at last year's show, making it both a can't-miss event for industry exhibitors and a one-stop-shop for retailers and facility operators. Attendee registration is also now open. Association members and non-member buyers from PGA of BC facilities can register by clicking here .

Members are reminded that they will receive four (4) PDP points for each day of the show on which they attend and sign in, and additional points for attending presentations at the Foresight Sports Canada Buying Show Education Stage.

Members of the NGCOA, CSCM, BCGSA and PGA of Canada members from outside BC can register their attendance by clicking here . All other prospective attendees can find their appropriate registration link via the Buying Show event page, accessible by clicking below.

The Buying Show event page also lists preferred accommodation rates and options available in the vicinity of Richmond Olympic Oval, through Preferred Partner Accent Inns as well as the River Rock Casino Resort. Please note that group-block rooms at the River Rock must be booked prior to Sept. 22, after which time uncommitted rooms will be returned to general hotel inventories.

REGISTER NOW FOR PGA of BC WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
Members are reminded of the upcoming registration deadline for the 2019 PGA of BC Women's Championship presented by Dexim Golfwear .

The event returns to Point Grey Golf & Country Club on Oct. 1-2, once again running in conjunction with the club's Ladies' Pro-Am on the first day of competition. This year's champion will be decided over two days of play in stableford-scoring format.

Defending champion Ashley Zibrik (Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club) and past winners Jennifer Greggain (Chilliwack Golf Club) and Leila Harman (Morgan Creek Golf Course) are among those registered to compete thus far.

APPLY NOW FOR PGA of BC BURSARY, JIM GIBSON SCHOLARSHIP
Members are reminded of this week's deadline to apply for the Jim Gibson Scholarship and PGA of BC Community Leadership Bursary.

The PGA of BC Community Leadership Bursary is awarded to an individual or member facility within the Association demonstrating an extraordinary desire and passion to make a significant difference in the lives of those around them, and in doing so, sets an example of “giving back” that all PGA of BC members can be proud of. The Jim Gibson Scholarship is given annually to an individual within the PGA of BC community that best exemplifies volunteerism and demonstrates dedication to furthering their education to benefit others in a community. Both awards are in the amount of $1,000.

Revelstoke Golf Club and David Stashuk (Capilano Golf & Country Club) were the recipients of last year's Community Leadership Bursary and Jim Gibson Scholarship, respectively. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR UPCOMING PGA of BC EVENTS
The PGA of BC has a number of volunteer opportunities available for member Professionals at upcoming Association events is looking for interested individuals to fill those roles accordingly.

In particular, the Association will be seeking scheduled member assistance at the upcoming Buying Show and Awards Celebration. Shifts of various duties range in length from two to four hours and provide a great opportunity to meet fellow Association members and industry leaders. Members can earn one (1) PDP point per hour volunteered at these events.

The PGA of BC wishes best of luck to all members competing in next week's PGA Assistants' Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf.

Twelve PGA of BC Professionals are registered to compete in the 54-hole event, taking place Sept. 17-19 at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley Golf Links. Among them are the four players who will comprise BC's team for the Inter-Zone competition (pictured) -- Bryn Parry (Seymour Creek Golf Centre), Kevin Stinson (Cheam Mountain Golf Course), Nate Ollis (Cordova Bay Golf Course) and Luke Bogdan (Ledgeview Golf Club) -- which will be contested over the event's first 36 holes. Parry is a two-time winner of the event, earning victories in 1999 and 2005.

The participating PGA of BC members will look to bring an Assistants' Championship title back to British Columbia for the first time since 2009, when Matthew Palsenbarg (The Tour LAB @ Northview) won the event. John Shin (The Tour LAB @ Northview) was the top BC competitor in 2018 at T7 and will be back in the field next week.
RECENT RESULTS
Ben Griffin was the top-placing PGA of BC member competing in Friday's Cowichan District Hospital Foundation Pro-Am, the latest stop on the Vancouver Island Club Pro Tour.

Griffin (Uplands Golf Club, pictured) carded a 1-under-par 69 at Cowichan Golf Club, taking home $400 for the result. Brad Liptrot (Olympic View Golf Club) was one stroke back and collected $275, while Brian Miller finished with a 71 and earned $200.

Following the Interior PGA Tour's final regular event on Sept. 16 at Predator Ridge Golf Resort, all regional tours across the province will have only their tour championships left to count toward the 2019 Order of Merit.
CONGRATULATIONS
The PGA of BC extends its congratulations to Teaching Professional Ryan Tofani (Langley Golf & Banquet Centre) on his wedding that took place this past weekend.

Ryan and wife Meagan, who is employed by our Preferred Partners at G&G Golf Company, were married Saturday in a ceremony that was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Langley, followed by a reception at Northview Golf & Country Club. The couple described it as a "perfect day celebrated with family and friends."
