ZIBRIK CROWNED WOMEN'S CHAMPION IN VICTORIA
Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club Head Professional Ashley Zibrik played a near flawless final round on her way to capturing her third title at the 2022 PGA of BC Women’s Championship presented by adidas Golf at Victoria Golf Club on Wednesday.

Zibrik began the final round in third place, just three points back of defending champion Kattereya Kennedy (Simon Fraser University) and two back of Christine Wong (University Golf Club). But birdies on the opening 1st and then the difficult Par 4 7th hole quickly made up ground for her to catch the leaders. From there, Zibrik did not look back.

Her 39-point effort on Wednesday was equivalent to a gross 3-under par 69 and in addition to her 34-point total on Tuesday, finished the event at 73 points to win by four. Zibrik’s two previous victories came in 2012 at Vernon Golf & Country Club and at Point Grey Golf & Country Club in 2018.

PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- CHRIS HOOD
Head Professional, The Falls Golf & Country Club

Why did you become a PGA of Canada Professional?
I always played golf as a kid, loved it. After finishing my Bachelor's Degree I was unsure what I wanted to do next. One thing led to another and I was working at Marine Drive and an opportunity came up to turn Pro and I jumped at it.

What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?
I would have to say it comes down to the people. The Member's and guests doing what they love; it’s their leisure time. Being able to facilitate that for them is a nice feeling.

What career path led you to where you are today?
Early on, like all Assistant Pros I was able to try a little bit of everything from teaching to working in the Golf Shop, to conducting events. I seemed to gravitate towards the Admin side and enjoying Managing a Golf Shop to start as a Head Professional and later as a GM/ Executive Professional.

What is your favourite golf course in British Columbia, and why?
Nicklaus North – just love being in Whistler, great people there and a place I look forward to playing every year.
