COBRA PUMA GOLF
COBRA PUMA Golf's full-range portfolio includes COBRA’s high-performance drivers, fairways, hybrids, wedges, irons, and putters, as well as PUMA Golf’s sport lifestyle-inspired footwear, apparel and accessories. Fusing performance and style, COBRA PUMA Golf brings a focus on innovation, technology, compelling design and superior performance with an edge to the global golf marketplace.

New this spring, COBRA Golf introduced its fourth generation of KING Forged TEC Irons, which feature three significant improvements including a 5-step forged body and face, a sleeker topline with reduced offset, and a lighter and softer foam for improved sound and feel. The irons carry over a hollow body design with tungsten weighting and PWRSHELL technology that together provides enhanced distance with improved stability in a more compact shape. The Forged TEC Irons are available in a variable or ONE Length setup, which are both fully forged. The 2022 edition debuts a third model to the family with the Forged TEC X, which offers more forgiveness in a players’ game-improvement shape. All three models can be custom fitted for golfers to enhance performance.

PGA of BC PROFESSIONAL SPOTLIGHT -- MICHELLE McCANN
Class "A" Professional, Uplands Golf Club

Who has influenced your career the most, and how?
The support I have received over the years from other golf professionals I work with is unmatched. Starting me in the industry was Bill Kelly and I would not be here as a teaching professional without him, he encouraged me from the start that I could do anything I set my mind to. He was my first coach, first boss and biggest influence. Ian Stone has been my biggest supporter, encouraging me to reach for the moon and helping me accomplish any goals no matter how ambitious.

What is the most rewarding part about being a member of the PGA of BC?
There are always new learning and growth opportunities and ways to keep moving forward. You get great opportunities to meet other like minded professionals and learn and grow together.

If you had to share one piece of advice with a new member of our Association, what would it be?
Explore all the avenues of the industry, there is a place for everyone whether it be coaching, instruction, managing or sales, there are so many options and you have to find the right place for you!

What is a common misconception that golfers make about what your job entails?
People seem to think that teaching golf is just about the technical swing, but most days I spend a lot of my lesson talking through mental and emotional aspects of the swing and game more than the actual technique.

FACT OF THE WEEK
The PGA of BC has two avenues of recognizing member Professionals for their efforts in professional development.

The Professional Development Program (PDP) Order of Merit presented by Sunice & Bobby Jones is a year-long points race awarding credit for various undertakings that include continuing-education pursuits, volunteerism, participation in Association events and more. A cash prize pool is split between the top 10 finishers at the end of each season, with the overall Order of Merit leader recognized during the following year's Spring Education Seminar.

The Davie Black Professional Development Award, for which regional recipients were announced today, is meant to recognize outstanding contributions to the Association by an individual Professional on multiple fronts. These include efforts meant to elevate the PGA brand, qualities of leadership and moral character, and ongoing service to the Association and game of golf. We look forward to naming a provincial recipient for this honour during the PGA of BC Awards Celebration presented by Replay Golf Supplies & Tribal on Oct. 12.
