Eco Heroes helps schools reduce their footprint by reducing their school waste. The average-size elementary school in the U.S produces 18,760 pounds of waste per school year. More than 50% of that waste is single-use products, which ends up in landfills where it can take THOUSANDS of years to break down or turns up in the ocean, where it causes pollution, the death of marine animals and ends up in the food chain. We need to stop using recycling as a solution and understand that recycling is a process that pollutes as the recycling waste needs to be transported and transformed which produces carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Therefore, when it comes to our school waste, recycling should always be option B, REDUCTION being the main solution.

We created an easy to follow Eco Lunch Fundraising Program which can lead to reduce your school waste by 30% and win an Eco Hero School Award in just 3 weeks. Learn more

Bring Scenic Conservation Education to Your School
Check out our new Scenic Pathway in a partnership with Scenic America to educate and engage your students on scenic conservation.
The Green Schools Conference & Expo (GSCE) is the premier education and engagement opportunity for leaders and advocates who are passionate about the future of healthy, sustainable schools throughout the country and around the world. GSCE is the only event to bring together all of the players involved in making green schools a reality: the people who lead, operate, build and teach in our nation’s schools.
The 2020 GSCE will be held March 2-4 in Portland, Oregon. The event will feature three days of conference programing and workshops, kicking off with a keynote from TV personality and science communicator, Danni Washington . As the first African-American/woman of color to host her own science television series, Danni is deeply passionate about protecting our oceans and inspiring and educating youth about marine conservation through arts and media.

The 2020 conference attendees will discover strategies and solutions that strengthen the work to advance green schools for all in this generation. Experienced educators will address the newest trends, case studies, and innovations in providing healthy, sustainable learning environments and sustainability education for students, teachers, and school communities. This year’s conference offers five tracks of compelling education programming: healthy school environments; driving cultural and behavioral change; kickstarting sustainability programs in schools; designing schools for the future; and engaging and empowering students.
