PHEN was honored by
The Balm in Gilead, Inc
with its 2018 Healthy Churches 2020 Best Practice Award, at its Fifth Annual Healthy Churches 2020 National Conference. PHEN was one of two organizational recipients selected, because of its extraordinary partnership, health outreach and services to African Americans Faith Communities, according to The Balm in Gilead.
Rev. Adrian Backus, PHEN’s Director of Partnership and Outreach,
received the award and was successful in enrolling twenty-one additional churches as PHEN partners during the conference.
“We truly believe in the power of faith and healing and are honored to receive such a prestigious award from The Balm in Gilead,” said
Thomas A. Farrington, president and founder.
“Black men in the United States have the nation’s highest prostate cancer incidence and mortality rates, so we partner with black churches nationally to rally efforts in the fight against prostate cancer with educational symposiums, Father’s Day Rallies, Social Media Outreach, our Daddy’s Boy’s stage play and more.”
This year’s Healthy Churches 2020 Conference was fittingly named
“Faith+Health, the Power of You.”
The event was held, November 13-16, 2018, at the Grand Marriott Resort Hotel in Point Clear, Alabama. The all-star lineup of conference speakers and presenters included Academy Award-winning and Multi Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and actress, Regina Belle, as well as other national luminaries within the healthcare and ministry fields.
