PHEN's Prostate Cancer Community Rally on a Roll through DMV!

PHEN's DMV (Washington, DC., Maryland, and Virginia) Rally continues to roll through the area, educating large crowds and offering free PSA screening to men in partnership with Howard University's Mobile Care Unit. Last weekend, over 130 men attended the Ebenezer AME Men's Ministry Prostate Awareness Forum, and 64 were screened as part of Men's Health Month in June.

The event, hosted on Saturday, June 14th, was organized by Mr. Keith Parker and the Ebenezer AME Men's Ministry, with partnership from PHEN. The event theme was Be Watchful — Protecting the Temple and Preserving the Legacy.

Key Objectives of the Forum:

✅ Encourage prostate screening and early detection

✅ Create a safe space for men to discuss prostate health

✅ Highlight survivor voices and lived experiences

✅ Provide trusted clinical guidance and resources

✅ Address the emotional and mental health dimensions of prostate cancer

✅ Empower men to protect the temple and preserve their legacy

"This month, PHEN's DMV Community Rally has hosted two impactful DMV Community events with over 270 men in attendance, and screened more than 100 men. We want to thank our church partners, Howard University, and of course, the many men who have come out to these events to get screened."

Howard University's Mobile Care Unit offers free screenings to PHEN Rally participants throughout the month of June.

Men look on as they hear from an educational panel about the importance of early detection, as well as testimonies and stories from survivors. PHEN also hosted private consultations with PHEN Ambassadors, Drs. Artie Shelton and James Smith.

The teams from Ebenezer AME, Howard University Cancer Center, and PHEN partner to offer free PSA screening to men.
