Welcome to PHNCI’s e-newsletter! Each month, we will send a brief e-newsletter with updates, links to relevant tools and resources, and ways to engage with us. The e-newsletter will be the best way to stay up-to-date on the work of our Center, and of public health innovations taking place across the nation.

In this month’s edition: we share our upcoming conference schedule; we share a CJS small grant opportunity; we provide state health resources; we solicit innovation submissions; and we share information on the 2017 Practical Playbook National Meeting.

Connect with PHNCI on the Road
PHNCI will be attending and presenting at several conferences in the coming months. These learning opportunities are a great way to meet with staff as they share information and answer questions about public health innovation. Upcoming stops includes:

COPPHI Open Forum (April 20-21, New Orleans, LA) – sharing session
NNPHI Annual (May 17-19, New Orleans, LA) – sharing session
Annual Oregon Epidemiologists’ Meeting (June 7-8, Bend, OR) – plenary panel
NACCHO Annual (July 11-13, Pittsburgh, PA) – exhibiting and possible sharing session

CSPHS Small Grant Opportunities
The Center for Sharing Public Health Services (CSPHS) is offering small grant opportunities to help answer a number of questions, such as:

What role does a state health department play in cross-jurisdictional sharing (CJS) arrangements?
What issues need to be considered for CJS arrangements to be successful at small, rural or frontier health departments?
How can tribal public health organizations engage in CJS?

If your organization is working on a public health CJS project and would like assistance from CSPHS, or if you are interested in helping CSPHS expand the body of knowledge about CJS, we encourage you to visit the CSPHS website to get more information about their small grant opportunities. But hurry, the deadline to apply is Friday, March 31st!

State Health Resources
The State Health Reform Assistance Network (a program that provides technical assistance to states in order to maximize coverage expansions) and State Health and Value Strategies (a program that provides technical assistance to support state efforts to enhance the quality and value of health care by improving population health and reforming the delivery of health care services) have a resource library that may be of interest to health departments transforming their public health systems. 2017 Practical Playbook National Meeting
Join a forum of diverse stakeholders in population health to learn best practices for implementing effective cross-sector collaborations, while rising to meet the challenges of the changing healthcare environment by attending the 2017 Practical Playbook National Meeting on May 31-June 2, 2017, in Washington, DC.
