Barrington 220 students, staff, alumni and community members came together this past week to celebrate Homecoming 2022 in Barrington!

The week kicked off with an outdoor pep rally at Barrington Community Stadium, and spirit days at BHS. On Friday night the BHS seniors beat the juniors at the annual Filly football game. On Saturday the day kicked off with the annual Andy Anderson Pancake Breakfast at BHS, followed by the parade down Main Street, varsity football game and dance at BHS.

Build 220 construction underway at three schools
Build 220 construction continues this month at Countryside Elementary and Hough Street Elementary, with completion at both schools anticipated for this winter. Construction is also underway at Barrington High School from now until 2025. During the month of September, construction crews completed the new playground at Sunny Hill Elementary. Arnett C. Lines Elementary, Barbara B. Rose Elementary and North Barrington Elementary are currently in the Design phase, with construction anticipated to begin in Summer 2023.
Tips for parents/guardians during a school emergency
During an emergency situation at one of our schools, it is important for our community to work together. Barrington 220 has developed this tip sheet for parents/guardians, which shares specific actions parents/guardians should take in the event of an emergency.

In other safety news, this year Barrington 220 is utilizing an Illinois school safety helpline as an additional tool aimed at providing students a place to report information that might prevent bullying, suicide, and campus violence. The program, Safe2Help is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It allows students to confidentially share school safety issues. Click here to visit the Safety 220 webpage and learn more!

Join Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Hunt for coffee and conversation! Throughout the 2022-23 school year, Dr. Hunt is hosting informal gatherings around the Barrington area, in order to provide our community with the opportunity to learn more about what's happening in Barrington 220 and ask questions. "Join us for Java" this month on Monday, Oct. 24 from noon to 1pm at Pepper Park Coffee in Lake Barrington.
Nominate outstanding teachers, administrators, and school personnel!
The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) is looking for nominations for the Those Who Excel & Teacher of the Year Awards. These awards honor individuals who have made significant contributions to Illinois’ public and nonpublic preK-12 schools. Any person or organization may submit nominations for the awards. ISBE will honor the 2023 Teacher of the Year finalists and all Those Who Excel award winners at a banquet on April 29, 2023. Click here to nominate a Barrington 220 staff member today!
New mental health resource available for D220 families and staff
Barrington 220 is committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families in order to create a safe and healthy learning environment. Register for the BACC Legislative Breakfast
Join Barrington 220, the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Barrington Area Council of Governments (BACOG) for the annual BACC Legislative Breakfast. Hear first-hand updates from local and state legislators about issues affecting our community. The event will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 9am at the Barrington White House. How Building Resiliency Saves Lives
The Barrington Council for the Gifted and Talented (BCGT) is holding a virtual October Monthly Wisdom Program, "One Second of Hope; How Building Resiliency Saves Lives. Progress, Not Perfect." The discussion will feature Leslie Weirich, Suicide Prevention Specialist at Oaklawn Community Health and Dr. Joseph Chen, Licensed Clinical Psychologist/Professor at DePaul University. The event will take place on Thursday, October 27 at 7pm. Click here to register.
