Dear PHRA Members,

I am proud to announce The Pennsylvania State Council of SHRM has awarded the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA) the Chapter of the Year Award for our 2019/2020 accomplishments.

The Chapter of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievement in chapter initiatives, major accomplishments, strategic activities, and tactical initiatives that elevate the profession of human resources.

Here are a few accomplishments that contributed to this achievement:

  • Our chapter leadership continues to be represented in a number of SHRM's Core Leadership Areas (CLAs) such as; certification, membership and diversity, college relations, legislation, and workforce development.

  • UpContent has enabled us to streamline our content distribution to help members find relevant, high-quality and timely resources on a consistent basis.

  • Produced our 1st HR "Department of 1"!  This course provided our members  the credibility and the confidence they need to be more effective in their role.

  • PHRA's 1st  Month of Diversity and Inclusion celebrated respect, integrity and ageless wisdom by providing messages to encourage and empower members to live a life full of Diversity and Inclusion.

  • Helped 53 members achieve their professional certification through our SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP preparation courses.  This a 38% growth year over year.

  • Consistently provided 64 Learning & Professional Development seminars resulting in 70 SHRM & HRCI Recertification Credit options.

"So much of PHRA's impact on the region can be traced back to the dedication and hard work of our volunteers, board members and staff.  These leaders took the initiative and drove changes to serve and advance the profession, so we can all thrive together.” said Peter Gabriel, PHRA President.

This distinguished award would not be possible without the support of all of our dedicated members and chapter leaders.   A huge thank you goes out to all of our Committee Chairs, Directors at-Large, Volunteers, Business Partners, Members at-Large and Staff for making 2019/2020 a huge success!

Our very best regards,
